Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingAlways looking for new rides & ride partners in SE QLD area
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingI live near the Gold Coast. What's it all about?
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingI'm not a fan of websites generally. I think it's something to do with my ASD. Can't you just tell me?
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingShould be a good ride, 2000m+ of climbing through the green stuff.
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingI am registered for the Grand Fondle. Accommodation all booked as well, I just need to learn how to climb.
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of Cyclingworth thinking about for sure...
"Special announcement from ROBBIE McEWEN: Sign up for the Gran or Piccolo Fondo by midnight Oct 31 & go in the ‘dream draw’ to win a Scott Foil 40 GreenEDGE style - including Scott helmet, GreenEDGE cycling kit, and Oakley Radar. Plus I’ll take you out for a ride with your new kit! #howweroll"
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of Cycling
I'll be in the hurt locker for sure but I'm a definite starter. Now what's the website for Jenny Craig again... ![]()
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of Cyclingdoing the piccolo - not got the nerve to do the big one - hoping we are not embarrassed - two daughters coming along- lots of practice happening here - still not good at elevation charts - is it very lumpy on the 50?
i suffered a bit on the ride 4 MD last weekend. thanks
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of Cycling
can i also register for the Grand Fondle, or any Fondle, in fact? internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingIve signed up for the Gran Fondo. You get a jersey as well which is pretty cool (pick up on the day i think). Fondles are optional.
Now, who has ridden up Mt Tamborine east side OR Beechmont Rd and can tell me what its like?? I am preparing the 28th cassette for use on Mt Tambo
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of Cyclingboth are steep climbs for non climbers
tambo is longer and steeper in sections but a couple of false flats to tease, beechmont is not as steep but relentless. both will have you wishing you were somewhere else.... have a look at strava for gradients
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingRight. So im screwed then
Hello, Hurtlocker. You look cozy, mind if i come in?
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of Cycling
Well you did ask - i did pedal up that road from Canungra to Beechmont once, 24 years ago. i think the vertical gain is about 3 times that of Mt Coot-tha. Similar road conditions. The other climb up the east face of Tamborine is not as great an altitude gain but might be worse because it is steeper and more cars. There is another climb near the finish if that is not enough ! Favorite bike - whatever i am riding, as long as it has indexed downtube shifters
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of Cycling
You'll be fine mate, back of Beechmont is mostly steady 5km's (AT) 8% average, but there is a 1km section (AT) 13.2% average. The route up Tambo for the day is the easiest of the 4 options, in my opinion. D Support my Ride to Fight MS!

Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingIt's a great website though. I love to countdown as it coincides with my holidays when I am off on a cruise around the pacific islands.
I check everyday to see how many days before I enjoy a nice drink on an ocean liner. Oh...and I will be thinking of you all who are participating and having a drink for you all... and chuckling to myself! 2013 Bupa Challange at the Tour Downunder - 25th of Jan 2013 - Raising money for the Cancel Council - bit.ly/YzLYG3

Re: Gold Coast Festival Of Cycling![]() This is the jersey every entry recieves. Pretty nice bit of kit! Anyone know if they are posting them out or do we pick it up beforehand? Last edited by RobM on Thu Oct 25, 2012 12:11 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingLooks like I will sign up for this one!!!
100 km of pain for this big boy... My new Merida has 11-25 and I am slow as heck to start with... Going to be feeling it out there... But there is one good way to get better; sign up and turn up... Going to get the kids into the kids fondo too... They will love that...
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of Cycling
Nice one Brett! It will be a hard slog but the feeling after will be worth it. Well, that's the motto I'm sticking with
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingI was expecting a decently designed jersey and it is!
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of Cycling
Looks like I'm getting signed up for this one too...I'll be hurting way more than you...and I have a 27 on the back Discussions to continue tomorrow! Lisa
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingI caved and swapped the 11-25 for a 12-27... Did a test ride on Friday night and is so much better for me!!! Hills are kinda, sorta my friend again... Seriously, the 8% difference in the 27 over the 25 is noticeable enough that my mind has stopped over thinking things and I just settle back into getting up the hill...
Right, back to training for me. These hills will be MUCH easier when I drop a few more pounds off the old mid-rift...
Re: Gold Coast Festival Of CyclingGot my timing chip in the mail
Grrr to having too pick up my jersey before the ride, post ride would be so much easier.
