Hey fellas, just wondering... is this 'fixable', or do I need to get myself some new rim tape? Not fussed if I can't salvage it, as it's one of the cheaper parts out there.
It's folded in like that for roughly 10cm, then the rest is fine. I'm guessing the tape has come unstuck somehow? Would I have caused it having my tyre pressure too high or something?
Anyway, if I need to get some more, I understand the recommendation is to get Velox?

Rim tape is not adhesive.
Unless you've found a way to make air pressure directional, either it was always like that or a tyre lever would be my prime suspect.
I'd just unfold it and boogey on.

Ah, fair enough then... probably a stray tyre lever. I've tried unfolding it, but it just folds itself back the second I let go.

Unless you get the cloth stuff with the adhesive backing.JustJames wrote:Rim tape is not adhesive.
New stuff will cost you about $5 a wheel. Always worth doing to replace that plastic stuff IMHO.

Just run some electrical tape over it to hold it down.

And order some Velox for when it becomes needful...
...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.
