those of similar physique would do well to choose same for a relaxed fit, or a Medium for a more race-inspired cut.

Due to quite a few of us riding tomorrows Bris2GC ride, we did a flat easy 50km warm up ride.
All good, no incidents except for elantra getting a little too friendly with my rear end (we had a wheel sucker tag along for quite a bit of the return trip), we were trying to stay in a tight pack & a slower rider going our way met a jogger going the opposite direction, causing everybody to brake quite hard & elantra thought my brakes were working a little better than his so he'd share mine. No damage bar a tiny buckle in my rear wheel (it'll be fixed before I have to commute next week), luckily I was riding my Malvern Star commuter rather than the Vertex.
No other incidents, except for some good natured chucking of jerseys prior to the ride, many thanks to munga for bringing them all the way from home considering he wasn't even riding (love your work brother), so we number 4 tomorrow.
Anyway here's the first lot, I'll edit in the rest when they've uploaded...........

That's all peeps.
Did not take the video today so I leave it for the others, good ride, strava segments spoiled by ride mates, much abuse was heaped upon CF brifter brigade, we did the ride in a smidge over 3h30m I think, not bad for a bunch of old farts on old clunkers.
Edit jobby, I forgot to deduct the 19 minutes we spent getting freshly filled bidons & moi untangling his chain from the bottom bracket (don't ask, I knew it was off but I thought I could pop it back on with the derailleur & a turn or 2 of the cranks, guess not. ) quel idiot je suis.

There's not a chrome plater in Brisbane that will touch or guarantee the results of plating aluminium, I've contacted platers interstate & they are less than enthusiastic about making any sort of commitment to ability or results, I'd have to send it to them, pay upfront & see the results when the fork arrived back.
So shelf the idea of getting the fork done, my local plater is happy to do a whole friggin' steel bike (hmmmm wonder what a chromo superlight would look like????), no worries in the world but won't even look at aluminium, I even asked about polishing it, but he feels it would have been sand blasted before it was painted originally, he's not confident that either of us could get it to a finish that either he or I would be happy with.
So option number 2---- I get it painted in Alfa Romeo Azzurro Gabbiano, it's a metallic pale blue, from what I can see, very close to an original factory colour.
Just going to take the frame to a paint shop to get their impression, then I need to go for a ride.

Beautiful colour choice Wal. How about giving the fork a blast with the polishing wheel before you send it off to the painter? Nothing to lose, and the Al might polish up a treat - then its just a clear coat job for the fork?Wal42 wrote:So option number 2---- I get it painted in Alfa Romeo Azzurro Gabbiano, it's a metallic pale blue, from what I can see, very close to an original factory colour.

vaeske wrote:how about an 8 speed campy mirage groupset?
I bought a full Superbe groupo this morning, that will go onto the Vertex, the Suntour groupo off that will go onto the Superlite.
Went for a ride around lunchtime, legs were like lead, did about 60kms took me way over 3 hours, legs get rest tomorrow, just commute to work then home, I'll see when I get home how my legs feel so I may not do a training ride.
Just spent an hour or 2 on the fork off the Benny, what ya all think, I may send it off to the metal polishers before I send the frame off for paint.
Called in & showed my mechanic this morning, he went off the deep end, for the money I could have bought a Pina copy (you know, the chinese copy ones), but then he came around when he had a good look & feel of the frame. He said it reminded him of the Viner lugged aluminium frames, maybe that's where they got the idea (not sure which way around, both Viner & Benotto did them around the same time, so someone probably copied the other).
Anyway here's the Benny with polished (roughly) & the wheels--------------------------------------
Guess I'm back to painting the frame Alfa Romeo Verde Olivia, if the fork comes out ok, it'll be polished then coated with bee's wax (You can't clear coat polished aluminium Dan, the clear won't stick without atleast etch primer).
