Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.Just back from the B2GC this morning, a handy 125ks toward the total today...my bar should turn yellow this week, if I can get back on the bike again....my legs are totally shot after this mornings effort!

Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.Nice job Lisa. 125kms is nothing to be sneezed at.
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.
Thanks Norbs, it was a great ride yesterday, I did the 100ks in 3 hours and 9 mins total time including stops and red lights toward the end...average speed was 31.4 for the 100 section. Woke up an hour earlier due to my phone being set to Sydney time rattled around the house killing time as I knew that I'd feel terrible if I tried to go back to sleep...went out to put the Garmin on to discover a flat front tyre, got that changed ASAP and headed off....there were 4 of us riding in to the start together to meet other people, we got 1.5ks up the road and my friend got a flat...changed that which was drama with breaking a tyre lever and venting a canister of co2 in the process. Started to get back on the bike and Mr MM had a flat.... Flew into the start, got another QOM for my troubles We all had a good ride down the quickest three were in at Southport in 2 hours 38 mins with no stops, I came in next with my time and the other two got in just after 4 hours. Next year I'll try to go with the other three and not stop! Lisa

Family comes first Mustang...there will be another B2CG ride next year, hopefully with another tailwind! Lisa
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.
yeah i think i will try for 8,500
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.
Great ride MM and congrats to all the others who finished the Bris2GC journey. I also improved my time but made the mistake of leaving the Garmin on in the queue shuffle at the start and put it in my pocket while I wandered around at the two stops thus lowering my moving average somewhat. Another 48k this morning puts me back in the green after slipping behind while on holidays in WA GT
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.
Nice work Lisa!!! We did 100km on Sunday but our time was more like 4:34 at 21.2kmh (which IS slower than usual, but SW blowing). great to average over 30k for that distance. No mention of how long (or how many tubes) the last 25km took? Merida 903 from the LBS-nothing fancy... but you haven't seen me ride (nothing fancy)
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.Few days off for me. Torn muscle and pinched nerve in my back. That will slow my march to 10,000kms down.
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.
You can set it to auto pause under 5km per hour. Each time I stop at a long light change or a food stop it stops & starts automatically
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.
Thanks Mustang .... all done now Cheers GT
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener. The target was set just out of reach, and only set to qualify for this forum, is looking like less than a week away. It really hasn't been at all tough.
So, heading out into another perfect day. Clear, warming, still winds in Perth. Unicyclist's don't need a training wheel
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.Slow start to the month for me. First week I was off camping with the family. Took my son for a spin around the Blacksmiths/Swansea area on the wednesday. Enjoyed riding out to the end of the breakwall, cruising along the cycleways, knocked over a geocache at the Swansea Bridge and had some fun going over a small jump a couple of times on Coon Island. Slipped past the 6k mark somewhere along the way too.
Thursday's ride was a bit longer with the whole family as well as my wife's aunt, who hired a beach cruiser for the day, and cousin on his BMX. Cruisy day and fantastic weather, the aunt is now looking into purchasing a cruiser. Friday was the day for my tougher ride as I was off on my own to ride Awaba MTB park. Riding conditions not quite as ideal as the other days with the temps in the mid to high thirties made for a tough few hours around the park. Saw and spoke to a few other riders between loops but I seamed to be the only one sticking around for more than one loop. As I had no idea when I'd get to return I'd decided I was going to get in all three loops and see what the park had on offer. Turns out I could have just ridden the red loop to do that as the yellow and blue are just shortened versions. It's some nice singletrack through bush and rainforest but it's hard work. There's plenty of climbing and descending with over 700m of each during my 30kms spent in the park. I found most of the course rideable for my novice skills, some pushing my comfort zone which helped build confidence. There was one steep downhill section I decided to walk as I wasn't confident of making the turn at the bottom yet as well as a steep uphill I wasn't confident of getting up without losing traction and didn't have the energy to contemplate a quick dismount should that occur but otherwise I found myself gaining confidence throughout the day, finding a bit of confidence and some additional speed made some sections flow so much nicer while a couple of other times it found me stepping past my limit with a couple of minor offs. All good though, only damage was some small scratches. The best bit of the ride was probably a section called The Salad Bowl which was kind of like riding up and down a half pipe that had become overgrown with bush leaving a nice single track snaking it's way through. So after 30km, 3.5L of fluids and most of my food supplies consumed it was time to head down to the shops down the road to rehydrate properly while I waited for my wife to come and pick me up. Good few hours at the park, be nice to come back on a day when the temps are 15 to 20 degrees cooler, Garmin and the car's outside temperature guage both read 33 when I'd started off. The Garmin hit 40 early on and average 36.9 for the ride and both the Garmin and car had it at 39 when I was picked up, haven't ridden in anything like that for quite a while.
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.Nice report Shane, I need to get to Awaba one day.
Are you still planning on doing the Fling? I sorted my entry out for the Full Fling yesterday. Giant Reign 1 Merida CX4 Trek Superfly Al Trek Earl
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.Yeah, still hoping to do the fling. Planning on ordering some new tyres in the next couple of days for it, not sure what to get yet.. a lot more 29er options available now and I have no idea on dirt tyres. Pretty sure I'll wear out the current tyres before then though. Thinking a stans tubeless conversion at the same time would be a good idea.
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.Yay, just logged my commute home which takes me over the 6999 goal!!!
My bar will be yellow in the morning I will give it a couple of days then re-set it to the current goal of 9000.... From yellow to poo brown again Lisa
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.
I am running the Conti X-King on the front in a 2.4 and a Crossmark in 2.1 on the rear. I have them found them to be great over the last 1000kms or so. Easy to set up tubeless too. Giant Reign 1 Merida CX4 Trek Superfly Al Trek Earl
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.
Congrats Lisa. Terrific effort.
Re: 6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener. My initial goal was 5k, which I'm just about to creap over, but I upped it to 6k to join this illustrious club. I'll get there, I think. My spreadsheet says I'll hit it with 13 days to spare if nothing goes wrong...
