Cycling clubs - Sydney's East

Postby Jace » Sun Oct 07, 2012 8:25 pm

I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback or suggestions on local clubs around the Eastern Suburbs? If I am not mistaken there is Randwick Botany, Sydney CC or Eastern Suburbs CC. Is there any differences or anything in between them? I dont know if I am quite up to that level yet either, is there a certain marker I should be able to hit before I join up? Mostly thinking about some group rides and maybe some crit racing down the track.

At present I can cover 40km around Heffron at about 32kmph if that helps?

Give the clubs a call or drop them an email and they will usually ask you along to a introductory ride - If you are comfortable after that then you should be able to go for a few of their bunch rides to see if it works for you before having to join.

SCC do an intro ride at centennial park once a month. A few laps then a cruise out to heffron.

What are you interested in? Group rides/racing/touring etc. check their websites to see what they focus on.

Disclaimer - I'm a member of SCC.

Thanks for the info, I might drop them a line and see what I can find out. An intro ride is probably the best way to approach it and maybe get an idea of where I am at.

At this stage I am kinda interested in all of them. Would love to have a crack at a race down the track but really want to get some group ride experience and possibly touring as well.

Thanks!
