I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback or suggestions on local clubs around the Eastern Suburbs? If I am not mistaken there is Randwick Botany, Sydney CC or Eastern Suburbs CC. Is there any differences or anything in between them? I dont know if I am quite up to that level yet either, is there a certain marker I should be able to hit before I join up? Mostly thinking about some group rides and maybe some crit racing down the track.
At present I can cover 40km around Heffron at about 32kmph if that helps?

Give the clubs a call or drop them an email and they will usually ask you along to a introductory ride - If you are comfortable after that then you should be able to go for a few of their bunch rides to see if it works for you before having to join.
SCC do an intro ride at centennial park once a month. A few laps then a cruise out to heffron.
What are you interested in? Group rides/racing/touring etc. check their websites to see what they focus on.

Thanks for the info, I might drop them a line and see what I can find out. An intro ride is probably the best way to approach it and maybe get an idea of where I am at.
At this stage I am kinda interested in all of them. Would love to have a crack at a race down the track but really want to get some group ride experience and possibly touring as well.
Thanks!

Hi Jace,
I am looking to join one of these clubs next month, as I want to start racing ASAP.
If you do not mind me asking, which club did you end up choosing? Why?
I have spoken to guys from Randwick Botany and Easts, and everybody seems very friendly.
The SCC have different types of racing according to their website, which seems interesting.
If anybody else reading this is a member of a cycling club, how did you choose the club you are racing with now?
Thanks,
Darrin.

You may want to have a look at Sydney Uni Velo Club too. They train at Centennial Park and race at Heffron. Im not from Sydney but these guys seem very organised.
