An Avanti supposedly ridden in the Tour Down Under by Matthew Rex. Initially i thought "don't be stupid, even in 2005 a pro wouldn't ride anything less than full carbon", but did some searching and found a pic that shows him on the same frame with Mavic Cosmic wheels. I don't think that makes it worth what they're asking (and i would pay LESS for something if i knew it had been raced seriously), but interesting.

Chater Lea chainset (3/16 by the sound of the ad), twin plate fork crown, and are those timber rims?LG wrote:Wish I was near Shelford (Vic) wherever that is. Would love those cranks... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1920s-vintag ... 19d5d2a513" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Quick, somebody buy it, so I can stop worrying about how I could get it to Sydney.

I'm the same, spent a fair bit of last night wondering how I could get it to Tassie. It appears to be near Ballarat. Any locals to the area want to do me a deal?Johnj wrote:Chater Lea chainset (3/16 by the sound of the ad), twin plate fork crown, and are those timber rims?

These guys are amazing. Doing a depot pickup your end helps, as well. I got a bike from Bundaberg to Sydney; very easy/inexpensive.If you sweet-talked them, the most difficult thing they'd have to do is get a castaway bike box form their LBS.LG wrote:I'm the same, spent a fair bit of last night wondering how I could get it to Tassie.
