Hi,
I've been doing a bit of training at the Reservoir Valedrome on my road bike.
I'm was wondering what gear(s) should I be in to simulate a track bikes gear?
I have a compact crankset.
Cheers.

Re: Track bike / Road bike - Gear equivalent?Looking at THIS, which is running a 48/17 (which is 74.2 gear inches) on 700x23c wheels, your closest ratio's (according to the Sheldon Brown calculator) would be either your 50/18 (73 gear inches) or 34/12 (74.5 gear inches).
Though I'm sure the track riders amongst us can confirm or advise accordingly. Dave 2012 Felt F75 | 105 | ProLite Braccianos | GP4000S
Re: Track bike / Road bike - Gear equivalent? You should be looking for something between high 80s and low 100s (gear inches). 50/15 gives you 90, 50/14 gives you 92. Try those.
Re: Track bike / Road bike - Gear equivalent? Thanks.
Much appreciated.
Re: Track bike / Road bike - Gear equivalent?what he said
without knowing your size, power etc, look at 86-92 gear inches. outdoor tracks generally a bit lower geared due to wind , surface etc.
