Fitting 3T clip ons to tapered carbon bars?

Postby northboy » Mon Oct 08, 2012 11:17 pm

Hey guys,

have my first ever TT on the weekend (a two up TT) and have borrowed a set of 3T aero bars off a mate but having issues with fitting to my bike. My issue is that I have a set of FSA Carbon bars that are tapered away from the mount point and I can not get them t itghten. Is there a trick or a tapered wedge or something that I am missing?

Don't do it, you will crush the carbon bar. Carbon bars are (usually) only designed to be clamped on clearly marked reinforced areas. These areas often also have a rougher surface to the generally smooth surface of the rest of the bar.
You MAY be able to use a clip on that has a narrow clamp that attaches directly next to the stem.
