Hi, my name is Chris Flynn, and I'm the inventor of the Nori Lights – Bike Illumination system.
I got the idea about 2 years ago when I was riding my bike home at around 8 pm and a car almost hit me because even though I had a front facing light, the driver could not see me from the side. This gave me the idea that if we could light up the wheels, the bike would be instantly recognizable. So I took a couple sets of computer case black lights, mounted them to the front and rear forks, and rewired them to run off of a 12 volt scooter battery. The black lights activated a glow-in-the-dark paint that I had sprayed on the rims of my wheels.
Would you ride with them?

Cool idea if you don't mind painting your wheels with glow in the dark paint

I paid a couple of bucks for some valve stem led lights. Motion activated, similar result. Front one can be annoying though, tends to shine in my eyes a bit.

While I think it’s a clever idea, I have some concerns with the reflective tape staying in place considering the wide range of climatic conditions here in Australia, not to mention knocks and scrapes.

The weakness in the whole idea is the loss of reflection of the wheel edge, and as noted reasonable cheap valve lights will give a similar effect without all the effort this system requires.
