While witing for my Hetchins to materialise I spied this little Pinny in Bulgaria, what a lyer he proved to be, but at least its a true Pinny.
I have bought reasonable quality Campy parts from around the world, most needed a lot of work, to bring them up to scratch, but I look at this way if I send the bike down the gravel next Noosa e'roica then all is not lost.
I will keep the post up to date as the resto progresses,

this little pinny would be very well loooked after. syncro shifters, sr brakes levers, deltra brakes, crecord headseat...all yummy goodness.

All the group has been added by me.

Description was headed "new never used", "original paint" as one would expect if it was never used, "no dents or marks".
Well the photos were just far enough away to look good, although I could see it was used, it didn't cost that much, but it was a reportable sale with a very inaccurate description.
I'll decide if its worth a "Joe" repaint when its finished. Its an extremely light frame.

Delta brake overhaul, what an amazing pice of kit, cant see what all the fuss is about setting them up, sure its a fiddle, but not as bad as they have been reported.
These were packed with dried up old grease, doubt they have ever been apart?
Cant wait to get a set of 5th Gen.

The wheel pictured is off another bike, but I have just picked up my Campy high flange Record hubs laced to Mavic OPen Pros

Its going to be a good training bike with these rings at 54/44.

Your Pinarello is going to be a very nice bike indeed. Looking at the screen, every component looks to be in good nic. I think it will grace the gravel roads with class.

I thought the Pinarello Montello model was the top of the range and was made of Columbus SLX - which is true of the later Montello's. I have a little time on my hands at present (bum knee) so I looked up Columbus KL. It appears that Columbus KL is a thinner walled version of Columbus SL and is regarded as quite a special tubeset. I think Ernesto Colnago built Beppe Saronni's famous 1982 world champion winning bike from Columbus KL. I think Columbus KL was more a 1970's tubeset.

I think you may have a very desirable frame. A Prestige Montello S frame may be something quite rare.

Could DC refer to Dead centre and be part of the measurement info?

The Columbus KL stuff seems to have been used only for smaller frames and lighter riders, so it's right out there in terms of exotic steel. According to this guy http://whbikes.wordpress.com/2010/01/17/2003-della-santa-corsa-speciale/, you can expect a bit of flex.

I noticed another Pinny from hungary on the bay today - not as nice as yours, but I'm guessing it's the same guy?

Thank you "Gary" for the info, the frame on its own is extremely light for a steel (wish i had weighed it bare now), also seems "Joe" may have another paint job.

Hi Mustang, I think it would be worth your while to reco this frame. I hope cyclemondo can reproduce the Columbus KL decal along with the 'original' Pinarello decal set.

Cyclemondo dosn't have any Pinarello products at the moment, but Joe Cosgrove has some nice stuff, very thin like the old water transfer, it needs clear over to protect it, so only good with a repaint.

The rims in the first photo are TB14's? I'm really liking them as a retro-style (much as I hate the term) box section rim. The dark Open Pro's on the shiny-shiny hubs are the next best thing. Should look great.

While waiting for another BB I made a tool bag, for a saddle without rear tabs: mounted image to follow.



This bag will carry 2x Tubes; 2x CO2, multitool, 3x levers,(drugs) it has been lined with fine leather, to cover all the hand stitching.

Great workmanship, love the "PINARELLO" on the straps. A unique touch for a rare bike.
