What would worry me about this is that it does not provide any context to the emergency call. It could cause a lot of undue stress.

I would hope that the timer on the phone gives you enough time to recover from a 'minor' crash, and also that it beeps or something as a countdown before sending the SMS. Seems like a good idea in principle. I have had a couple of stacks in the bush riding solo, one where my helmet got cracked but was up straight away and would have been able to cancel the message if it was for 30sec or 1minute, but would probably need the reminder of a countdown timer to cancel.
