Pretty sure I've got a spare brake calliper if you're still looking.marc2131 wrote:My old 50s Sydney-made Alcone road bicycle can't be ridden
After a long 85km jaunt a couple of weekends ago, one of it's old Mafac 'Racer' brake Eye-bolt assembly (holds the brake shoe to arm) sheared off. Been hunting around for a replacement but with not much luck. Either postage costs from US is ridiculous (Harris Cyclery) or seller on holiday (Bikeville.com).
The bike part is 456E.

ST is 56cm C-T, 11786 stamped into the BB, heart shaped cutouts on the lugs, Campy drops, Reynolds 531competition tubing. It came with a stronglight headset. Paint is over all okay, a couple of scratches as you'd expect, no dints. I'm willing to post interstate ~$30.
I would love to keep it, I love the green and gold colour scheme, the early 531c decals, the elegant Pegasus decals etc. I always wanted to find a set of gold box section wheels to build it up with. It's not exactly a fire sale, just that I'm open to any offers. I'll update this thread with some more pictures.
Frame/fork/headset only
is mid $2XX Neg in the ballpark?
Thanks,
Chris.

Nisi Toro Corsa non-clincher rim, 27", 16mm inner width, on Maillard hub
Unknown clincher rim (anyone help identify?), 700c, 13mm inner width on Maillard 700 Professional hub
Araya 27x1 1/4 Alloy rim on Suzue hub, with Suntour? 6 speed freewheel, no axle
Trans-X clamp on TT bars
Shimano 600 Arabesque rear derailleur, missing jockey wheels and back plate
Shimano Skylark rear derailleur, missing one jockey wheel
Shimano Golden Arrow front derailleur
Shimano Tourney centrepull rear brake (NOS)
I'm looking for
Shimano 600 Arabesque left side crank 165mm
Sugino super maxy left side crank 170mm
Shimano Tourney centrepull front brake
Generic Shimano downtube friction shifters
Here's the unknown rim, no markings on it, has a sticker which has almost completely worn off. I've trawled VeloBase and a few other places but can't find any logo's that look like this, the last letter is probably a C? Did Mavic ever do a logo like this?

60's or so frame with derrailer style rear dropouts - large size (I'm 6'2") with original pinstriping/paint. Don't care about brand and happy for it to have plenty of patina/scratches/chips/fading as long as it is straight. Happy with frame and forks only (usable BB would be a bonus) as I am planning on speccing it up with recent components for a chuckle in next year's around-the-bay-in-a-day
Offering:
I've got a reasonable range of 50's/60's frames, mens and womens, mostly with original patina'd paint and mostly from the lower end of the market (pressed horizontal rear dropouts and bolt on upper rear triangle on most) as well as period parts such as westwood wheels

Clamont 1000 frame a forks, triple butted chromoly, in ok shape, see pics size 56 top tube c to c and 57cm st (from the top of the seat tube to centre of the bottom bracket). Has mounts for racks, English bb.
Frame is too big for me, I am after 54cm frames, wheels, components whatever

Double butted chromoly. Comes with forks. In fair condition again. Size is 57 top tube c to c and st 62 cm (from top of seat tube to centre of the bb) if these measurements seem crazy I can re measure anything. Again this frame is too big for me, after something in a 54cm sq, or components or wheels, whatever I am open to anything.
P.s frame is Canberra

Hi Munga, just saw this.munga wrote: looking for anything to (part) trade for?
I would trade the Keith Davis Pegasus frame for a Reynolds tubed Peugeot road frame (none of this 501 stuff though) with cash adjustment either way depending on condition.
Cheers,
Chris

My Malvern Star Equipe frame with cracked chain stay is going free to a good home, I'd rather someone get some value out of repairing it rather than leaving it out for the rubbish. It's repairable and is a great little Renolds 531 frame with new headset and bottom bracket, sizing is about 58cm (link to photo of original bike https://sites.google.com/a/dbs72.com/ho ... edirects=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
I'll also be moving on the running gear which will be surplus to the new build if someone wants to make me an offer:
6 speed 105 groupset inc biopace rings
105 brakes and levers, new white hoods
700c Weinmann wheels with 105 hubs (the Belgian ones before they moved to Asia)
