Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesRe: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesthats a shame,
I remember it was $299 for the premium bundle during this years TDF, only problem was I wasn't in a financial position to buy. I might email them and see what they say, if they won't do that price I may have to go down the wiggle route
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesI mostly use Wiggle for my online purchases. So far this year (in separate purchases) bought new Fulcrum wheelset, Saris Bones Solo bike carrier, various bits & bobs, and most recently Garmin Edge 500. In every instance goods purchased were despatched within 24 hours of ordering and delivered in less than 10 days. The Garmin Edge I ordered Wednesday last week and arrived yesterday.
Nothing but good service from Wiggle.
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesBicycle Express (bicycleexpress.com.au / Halifax St in Adelaide)
Ordered Continental GP4000s last night approx 10pm - $49.95 + $9.90 post - pretty decent price. Dropped in at work by one of the staff members today at 3pm. I work a few kays away but expected them to just drop it in a post bag... score!
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesHaven't had great experience with CE. Ordered $1k wheels turns up with no skewers and no rim tape which apparently were supposed to be in there. Got an email response on the first day after I got it home and 2 days now, no response after 2 follow up emails. I don't ask for much but would have been nice to even offer cheap rim tape.
Well, for $7 for rim tape and maybe $30 for regular skewers, they've lost me.
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiences
I have rim tape I accidentally ordered. can sell it to you at what i paid if you like + postage
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesI've already got it solved myself no thanks to CE. Thanks for your offer.
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesOrdered some Campagnolo Veloce Shifters for the CX Commuter from Ribble as they were damn cheap ($95 including campgnolo cables), package duly arrives in three weeks, lo and behold two right hand shifters. Yes the CX bike is a mishmash of Campag, Shimano, SRAM, no-name carbon and Planet-X, but it works.
So I email RIbble they tell me to send them back and they will cover the postage, they will then send me the new ones. I cried a little - flat bars are making me a sad panda as I don't find them comfortable and another six weeks was not acceptable - so I emailed RIbble back and told them that. Result = They have sent me the left hand shifter via Parcelforce tracked couriers already, and have asked me to send one of the shifters back to them, with a copy of the postage receipt for reimbursement. Ribble are pretty good on pricing on the lines they carry, and with this osrt of service I will continue to use and recommend them. ![]()

Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiences
I understand you like the puncture resistance. Remember that it does make the bike harder to push. If she is riding further or to time lines the marathon supreme might be worth considering. Pucnture proof but also roll well. Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiences
THanks comedian a bit pricey though, they may come on special maybe one day, still looking, 700x23 puncher resistance at a resonable price is worth a look. a fast tyer or puncher resistant tyer pick one or the other? Buying road tyers is much easier, two gators thanks! Orbea Euskaltel:Ultegra,Durace,RS80

Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiences
Ended up getting helmet/bottles/tubes/lube from CRC. Order went in last Wednesday, shipped out Wednesday night, arrived here in Adelaide today. CRC use DHL (or at least they did for my order... they may use a panel of freighters given their size) whom ship direct to Adelaide from the UK, rather than via Melb or (god forbid) Sydney. Shaved a day off the shipping time. Thumbs up.
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesAnother order from Bicycle Express (Not cycling express) here in Adelaide - ordered online yesterday, delivered today by hand by one of the store's crew.
Had to purchase another tyre (Continental GP4000S). $49.95, good price, especially considering speed of delivery! Also bought 10 cartridges (AT) $14.95. Cheap!
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiences
Some great prices there Jim. Cheers

Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesWell, Chain Reaction are back in my good books. After the previous order took nearly a month, the most recent one was placed on Tues 9th October and arrived on Friday 12th via DHL. I didn't pay for any extra shipping - this was just the standard free postage on a order value of about $200.
By comparison I bought a new helmet from Cycling not-very-express on the 7th October, dispatched on the 12th, received 18th October.
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesI've recently made some purchases from http://www.velogear.com.au and http://www.hammernutrition.com.au.
Very speedy delivery (within 2 business days) and no hassles. Both had free shipping specials which got me in.
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesOrdered a pair of Bont Vaypor from Merlin Cycles last Friday at 12.00 pm Perth time, they were dispatched 6 hours later, and arrived in Australia Sunday.
My cousin ordered a pair of shoes from bicyclestore.com.au on Thursday last week, and was told they haven't even been posted yet. How the hell does it take a shop 7 days to post out a pair of shoes they have in stock? S-Works Venge
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesBought some shoes from chainreaction, got them in 10 days.
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesOrder from Bike24 for rims and spokes. Arrived yesterday rims are as ordered, unfortunately received 40 spokes of the wrong size instead of the 64 required for 32H rims.
Sent them an email, but still middle of the night in Deutschland, will see how it goes. ;(
Re: Online Purchases - good and bad experiencesOrdered tyres, saddle, two chains from Chain Reaction on Thursday night Australian time.
Package was at the door when I got home from work today. Got to be some sort of record. Death before Di2!
