Need advice/help/expert opinion on steel frame

Every time I buy a bike or build a bike and wax lyrical about it, my wife just rolls her eyes and says, "so when you gonna sell it then?"

More often than not she is right on the money. I am getting better though.

Too right - my NOS Chesini frame is concealed behind the bedhead in our spare room. There are not many hiding places in an apartment. And four bikes inside and two in our storage locker, yet another is hard to explain.

But you know what they say - it's easier to gain forgiveness than approval.

Pfft... with the amount of bikes that I buy, find, get given to me and pass through my shed , my wife and ,even my nosey kids struggle to get a handle on what's what. Stuff comes in, stuff goes out, people come around to look at bikes. Parts are being posted and received , it's an easy way to fudge stuff through and collect bits if ya know how. My wife is in constant disbelief as to how i can find 3 bikes on hard rubbish(free) and make one bike for a $50 outlay, and then sell it for a $100 plus profit. My parts bin is pretty depleted now though, and the bargain, pickup, quick flips are getting harder to find nowadays. From my point of view the frame you have there sunho is highly desirable and could well be worth keeping and investing some time and money into if you really like it. With the right Blurb and plenty of pics it could however fetch a reasonable price on ebay and allow you to pick up something in your size from elsewhere. Depends on which way the winds blowin and whats available in my experience.

Why would someone 'hammer modify' the RH rear fork? I think a second owner wanted to fit a double or even a triple chainring to a frame built for a single chainring (as previously discussed). The fork had to be dinted in to allow for the extra chainring(s).

I think it would be fun to re-birth this bike as a 90's time trial bike as previously discussed. It also weighs in at a very light weight. The aero rear end, the internally routed brake cable, etc, all add up to a time trial bike with a single chainring. It would be nice to see just how light you could make it.

A set of cow horn bars fitted to a long stem to fit you together with a clip-on aero extension bars would look great. You could even go 'old school' and fit a friction gear change lever to the end of the aero extension. The friction lever could also be fitted to the existing gear lever boss. The seat could be 'jacked up' to suit your height and really enhance the look of the bike.

A bike a bit like this but with a rear derailleur:

Old school clip-on aero bars with bullhorns. You could fit one gear lever. If it was my bike, I would have the rear dropouts re-set to a 126mm gap and fit a 6 speed 'corncob' freewheel (12 to 17 teeth) and a large front ring, say 53/54 teeth just for the fun of it. I would be looking for top-end speed on a flat course plus weight saving thus the corn cob 6 speed. I would fit the friction gear lever to the down tube boss. You would need a long seat tube - be careful as alloy posts can snap.

Might just make it a fun 10 speed. Anyway I will see! Thanks for the suggestions, those bikes look snazzy.

Let me know if anyone finds out who built the frame! Or what brand. I'm going to dig some more

Bike frame is "Enigma", (how ironic)

story:
called the guy who I bought it from, gave me the number to the guy who sold it to him (Geoff Worthington? Apparently his bikes are going to be in the new Wolverine movie... filmed in Paramatta NSW turned Japan)
Geoff told me he got it off his mate, Phil who got it off "Ebay"...
Called Phil and he told me it's his son's bike, doesnt know anything about it except that it was an "enigma" frame, custom i believe.... who said his friend got it for him who somehow gets shipped bikes from them.

So, that's all i know, no model or idea about the forks.
He said it was possibly a single chainring with a 9 speed.

So no model, just the frame name
