Certainly not here to blow my bags and my shed looks no where near as good as this........I have a 4 bay car shed, concreted floor. Pool table, table tennis table, 2 workbenches with vices, storage, bar and stools, wine barrell with stools around it, beer fridge, 50 inch plasma, 3 lounges (1 for the dogs). Stereo system, lighting, heaters but no air conditioner (yet). Walk outside and you have a basketball court set up with 3 point and free throw lines set up. Walk up the back stairs and you have the pool and patio set up. Yep...love my joint. Not to mention that 14 weeks ago there were 9 bikes in there also, only 5 now though...oh maybe 6!

This thread reminds me of a little game I played in class, in about grade 4. Desks sat two people in those days, and I sat next to Roslyn :D Of course it was not a shed/workshop ...................yet :D

If you're interested I've put a few images HERE of some old school, open hearth brazing or
fire brazing as it was known.

Nice work Cotterpin!
Are you making most of your own tools? (jig, fork jig, tube bender, etc?)

Some of the tools I have, date back to the early 1900's and have been passed on from one builder to another.
A lot, I made or had made in the 80's while others have been recently made or modified over the last year. All my gear is very much old school.

Great to see your set up and it's always fascinating to see the many different approaches to framebuilding 8)
Here's another open hearth and also a video from someone who uses two dancing torches to achieve the same end.

Cheers Cotterpin... I am very keen to give it a go as I have most of the tools and a bit of welding experience... just never gotten round to it!.

Hey spirito, the internet certainly gives us a ringside seat at the frame building game.
Excellent video.

Righto.

Got around to taking pics of my shop (it's always this tidy; honest! ).

I love it. It's under our elevated house up here in the tropics. Most of the time I'm just in shorts and thongs, often with a frosty beer. It's lovely in the rain, and perfect in the dry. I'm going to miss it a lot, but am excited by the planning of a new workshop when we move south to The Big Smoke. Boo hoo and Booya at the same time.

Dont get me started (again) elantra!

With apologies to the hordes of people already bored with multiple whinges on this subject, let me assure you that Bill does approve, and is the only character involved in the project who has resisted the temptation to extract a fee from me.

Firstly, I had to get planning approval.
Then a building permit.
Closely followed by a plumbing permit
And sucking on the wheel of all this came the Building surveyor.
In addition to the above, I also pay for an engineers certification as part of the cost of the shed kit purchase.

When I finish the job, there will be inspections by the Private Building Surveyor, followed by the Council Building Inspector, with the Plumbing Inspector sniffing along to complete the blood sucking red tape.

The shed and slab will cost about $8500. The leeches wearing ID badges will cost almost $2000.

Why one official could not approve the structure, and inspect on completion is beyond me

Thats a lot of work, but no doubt it will be all worth it. You should spray the concrete blue and put a diving board on it. Grab yourself a drink, a sun chair, invite some friends over and enjoy the many Faceplants which will follow shortly LOL

I am a veteran of too many faceplants adrian. We had a ski boat for over 20 years, and barefooting was just the greatest feeling. Sometimes the thrill was pushed too far.

My workshop...

Image
Image

Heating is via 1 bar heater and 2 small fan heaters, entertainment is iPod dock and laptop attached to the screen shown. And yes, it's always this messy.

Gets a little crowded with 3 trikes, a bunch of R/C aircraft and near wall to wall war-gaming junk...
