hi all, in a couple of weeks i have to travel by train to swan hill, arriving at 10.45pm on a friday, will be taking my touring bike and some camping gear.
what i would like are some suggestions on where to pitch my tent, not really worth going to a caravan park as i will only be sleeping approx 6 or 7 hours(and also late arrival time might not go down well)
i've never travelled to swan hill before and obviously because of the late timing its going to be easier to have a rough idea.
a quick look on google maps would suggest either the james belsar reserve or rotary park.
i plan on being on my way early saturday morning.
any suggestions would be very welcome
thanks all

I had this sort of problem with a group on tour many years ago. We were going to arrive at Maryborough at 2am. I rang ahead to the railway station-master and organised for them to open the waiting room for us and eight of us rolled out our sleeping gear on the floor for 4 hrs before we made an early departure on our ride.
Probably a more secure option for you than camping in a park.

have you got a vicroads map, or just google maps,
There is a sporting ground called Ken Harrison reserve, which.is on the edge of town, quiet and dark. Have stayed there before after catchimg same train. I stayed behind a cricket shed, just watch out for sprinklers coming on

Off Yana st, basically head west from railway station, cross the main st and then head south on amy dt to to Grey st, then go west crossing, over irrigation channel then turn left into Yana st, a school is on the corner, then then tennis courts after that, then road into Ken Harrison
