The breeze was enough to stay cool, but not enough to chill.

Not sure if it was the timeor the location, but fairly breezy around Iron Cove Bay this morning. But it's spring, the weather is fine, the girls are pretty, all is right with the worldhumanbeing wrote:Just about perfect this morning! Not too hot, not too cold, not too windy.

It seems a bit windy in the CBD at the moment. Not sure how it is out west. Will discover that soon enough.westab wrote:Good ride this morning - a little cool but enjoyable once I got going. Last night on the way home there are lots of riders out and about enjoying the great weather.
Looking forward to the ride this afternoon.

I rode around there this morning and thought it was fine. In fact, I had a tail wind most of the way judging by the speed I was doing v effort.find_bruce wrote:Not sure if it was the timeor the location, but fairly breezy around Iron Cove Bay this morning. Peter - sorry to hear this - hope it didn't bring you down and cost you skin. If there a Local bike shop near you - might be time for a tip there (if you don't have a pump - take the wheel and they will normally give you free air for the price of a tyre).humanbeing wrote:Great morning until my front tyre failed at the bead! Instant flat and tyre in the bin after I limp home on half pressure this evening
Have a great ride,
Peter
Either way hope you have a good ride home.
Had a good ride in this morning - had Friday legs after a 50 km day yesterday - looking forward to a slow roll home. Only 3km of climbing then it is down hill the next 6km to home. This should leave some legs left for weekend fun.

Luckily the flat happened coasting into the lights at Bondi Junction not 10 minutes before when I was doing 60km/h descending into Rose Bay.
Changed the tube and pumped it up with the Zefal HPX. However the tyre is cactus, sidewall is torn at the bead! Went off like a rifle shot too. Vittoria Rubino Pro, I was very happy with these tyres hadn't had a puncture in 2 months which is pretty good for me.
I've just got to make it 7 km home and I've got new tyres at home and a floor pump. The low pressure is so I don't blow another tube.
Ah the misadventures of cycling

The problem is that when you hit a bump the pressure in the tyre will increase.humanbeing wrote:The low pressure is so I don't blow another tube.
Got a plastic bank note on you - the amount doesn't matter. If you wrap it inside the tyre where the hole in the sidewall is, it will prevent the tube bulging through the sidewall & save you another burst tube.

Should've done that. almost made it home. Punctured about 1km from home and pushed the bike home in bare feet. Never done that beforefind_bruce wrote:The problem is that when you hit a bump the pressure in the tyre will increase.humanbeing wrote:The low pressure is so I don't blow another tube.

Well, if you were planning to ride to West Head, you would have found the road closed for a hazard reduction burn, hence all the smoke.familyguy wrote:Anyone else around St Ives/Terrey Hills get smoked to death this morning??? Terrible morning. Turned around at Terrey Hills and went to Manly instead for a 75km neat run.

I imagine it'll be a lot of fun going back home in the afternoon with 45km/h head wind.

This morning there was a lovely headwind all the way into the CBD so I am hoping that it holds up for the trip home tonight!
In a bizarre twist I PB's 2 Strava's this morning putting me into the top 5 for both! Go me!

Then saw this as I crossed Cooks river.
Then got caught by hail.
Then it was a struggle to slow down on Wolli ave. hill.
Oh my!
