Bikepacking the Waterous Rail - A Revisit
Postby Aushiker » Fri Oct 19, 2012 10:28 am
I have been wanting to put my new Tubus Swing front rack on my Giant XTC 2 to the test and also to try out the Extrawheel Voyager behind the XTC 2 so I took the opportunity to revisit the Waterous Trail in October 2012 with rifraf. We completed the trail over two days, overnighting at the Bidjar Ngoulin campsite on the Munda Biddi Trail. In all honesty the Waterous Trail could be completed as a one day ride of about 63 km. That said, it was a nice easy get away into the bush for a couple of days.
The ride write-up can be found in my blog at Aushiker.com
Regards
Andrew

Very enjoyable few days off the beaten track.
Nice to get back in the saddle and spinning the cranks.
I had a great time.
This is the WA I want to see more of

OH I wish I could have done this.
Would have had to do it in on my Masi tho, but with my feet and shoes nooooo
I'm going to have to get bonts or something similar to them

Hopefully you'll be able to come on the next trip.
I think you missed out on a great couple of days but theres always another trip.
The weather was good and my Moulton coped with the off road stuff better than I
thought it would.
Its got me thinking about something more suitable for single-track though as my derailleur is
hanging a bit low for its health with all the twigs and branches trying to catch it out.
Way too many options to consider.......
A rohloff would take care of the derailleur issue but perhaps its time to consider a new bike more
suitable for off road terrain.
Andrew talking about an Ogre (Surly) has certainly got my mind ticking over.
I really liked the look of Wingnuts 26' wheeled Troll but a 29' Ogre sounds even more interesting.
Then again a full suspension rig like WarrenH's Giant Anthem 3 sounds like a plush ride and there is also the 29' option......
