Atlanta 1996 wheels on an Apollo

Postby Lots of steel bikes » Sun Oct 21, 2012 5:55 pm

Picked up this Apollo Vitesse at the local tip shop. Bought it for the Campagnolo Atlanta 1996 wheels which are in good condition. The hubs are Shimano 105. The running gear is pretty ordinary, Exage 300EX. Has a rough Selle Italia saddle. Vittoria Rubino Tech tyres.
What is unusual is the forks. They are Reynolds 653 with Columbus dropouts. Obviously a replacement due to the color difference.
Will use the wheels on one of my other bikes. Probably will get the Vitesse up and running and put out the front for sale.

Brilliant rims, made by Ambrosio, and one of the first deep dish aero rims. I only recently moved on a set that I had for nearly 20 years, and they were still round, true and had plenty of meat on the brake surfaces.
