so i gather it locks into the smaller sprockets? awesomeReleng wrote:I bought a second hand wheel and could not get the sprocket off it. I tried my chain whip, and a vice, it still would not budge.

That looks way cool. Is the point of it to apply as much force as possible and where did you get it from?

Thats the way to go. Took wheel to work, tool in vice and 5 seconds later. Voila!

My commuter had a cassette that I could not remove, not sure why as I use a torque wrench to tighten to correct setting. Tried and tried and bent the chain whip so it was useless.I bought a second hand wheel and could not get the sprocket off it. I tried my chain whip, and a vice, it still would not budge.
Then I bought one of these:

I bought the Pedros tool but have found its not long enough. For a really tight lockring you cant get enough leverage on it. I ended up putting a steel bar on the end of it and off came the cassette.
Its good, but could be better with a longer lever arm.
Would I buy again? Well I was not going to get the cassette of any other way, but for the price it could be better.

Hook it up to a 30cm standard car breaker bar for the hard one. Never fail.
