See Through nicks

Postby steveo » Sun Oct 28, 2012 6:58 pm

Hi
I currently wear Santini nicks bought from Prendas, yesterday I was told by a person behind me that they are transparent (quite embarrassing). Can anyone suggest a better quality or non transparent brand nicks.
Thank you.

Ground Effect Sputniks from NZ. I have three pairs, but the first pair was bought in 1998 and has been in very regular use. Just now the Lycra is looking a bit scuffed on the surface but no sign of any transparency. I bought a second pair about 7-8 years ago and just recently bought a third pair. They have a couple of higher-end models of knicks as well.

 I remember those knicks, someone had a brain wave to design a "window" for ventilation presumably but all it did was reveal more than necessary.
Some also keep their shorts way past their use by date and it is our civic duty to inform the wearer. :P

Many brands are non see through you just have to try a few and find what is comfortable for you. Sugoi, Castelli, etc are good brands.

CT ran a review of high end shorts recently but you don't need to pay these prices if not doing the big kms, racing or you are on a budget.

Hi,
Just curious what colour the nicks are?

I have 2 different pairs of santini nicks and neither are see through. Both are black pairs.

Maybe depends on which type or something, maybe cheaper ones use thinner material.

Cheers

Just ride last wheel. Problem solved. 8)

(and your shiny ass cheeks visible through the material will be a visual deterrent for following motorists, thus protecting the peleton).....

Castelli are quite okay, as are Capo.

Which ones were they on Prendas? Then the rest of us can avoid them.

they will look transparent if you got a size or two too small, no matter how new they are
if i get killed while out on my bike i dont want a 'memorial ride' by random punters i have never met.

Sizing is fine. No too tight.

Maybe your butt is too bright and it's shining through?

Champ-Sys knicks BTW... awesome.

Stevo,

I have 2 pairs of Santini Greenedge knicks and both are see through in the right light, which is usually direct sunlight. For me the comfort outweighs the see through issue...just did 200+ kms in them yesterday, they were awsome.

Cheers,

Phil.
