Raleigh Appreciation SocietyRe: Raleigh Appreciation Societylooking good bro, must be so easy to ride...force grouppie on there would look mean!
Re: Raleigh Appreciation SocietyCheers man, yeah it's pretty nice to ride atm. I did like it with the Arabesque but as it's my everyday commuter brifters were the logical choice. I've got to hand it to the 6400 though, 20 years old and it still shifts like butter.

Re: Raleigh Appreciation SocietyHi all,
Posted some bad pics of my newly acquired Raleigh Panasonic in another thread a few days ago. Told it would be more appropriate to post it here. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=55847 Bike given to me last week by my brother-in-law Garry. Garry said he bought it in Singapore back in 1985, while he was there competing in a dragon boat race, representing Australia. He used the bike till about 1992 and has been garaged ever since. The serial number under the BB is WP6000934. He says all the components are as he bought it back then in '85. The pedals, seatpost and seat were missing. I temporarily used parts from a 1952ish Alcone Road bicycle - Brooks B17, Campag Record 27.2 seatpost and 1950s Campag pedals. This is only temporary of course. The bike rides beautifully, brakes are excellent. Not sure about the tyres. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ..... 15km short of a cardiac arrest.

Re: Raleigh Appreciation SocietyThe start of something new. I picked this up today for less than the price of a six pack, it's a Raleigh Zenith mixte made of Reynolds 501 cro-mo tubing. I haven't done my research yet but as far as I can tell it was made in the Nottingham factory probably in the mid eighties. The serial reads WC4002137.
![]() I'm pretty chuffed as I've been trying to find a nice mixte for quite some time, and this one makes a nice companion to my Ti Panasonic. ![]() I'm still deciding on how to set this one up. I've got some nice Campy bits and pieces that would suffice for a single speed (which would suit my girlfriend), but I also have a full 600 Arabesque group sitting in a box just waiting to be used. I'll leave it open.
Re: Raleigh Appreciation Societycorrect me if i'm wrong but isn't this just a ladies step through? mixtes have the sloping down tube going straight through to the rear dropouts. not bad at all, seems like a nice pickup for less than a 6pack!
Re: Raleigh Appreciation SocietyOK here's the Comp back from Joe's. The quality of the paint job is fantastic. He's also brazed on new shifter bosses and bottle cage bosses and cleaned up the head badge. The decals aren't quite the same as original, a bit more pimped out.

Re: Raleigh Appreciation SocietyYeah I'm not sure of the exact definition. I was under the impression that mixte referred to a ladies style bike geared more towards sports, but I'm probably wrong. In any case this is a nifty little machine much racier than your standard step-through and that lovely high pitched 'ping' you only find in good steel.
Re: Raleigh Appreciation Society

Re: Raleigh Appreciation SocietySomething a bit diferent from the last few raleighs above... a 1974 Raleigh Sports. 26 inch wheels, brooks B72 saddle, and sturmey archer coaster brake. Way to small for me, so not 100% sure what I'm going to do with it

Here's a tidy Raleigh Viva Mixte: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/duncraig ... 1008660972 Not sure about the rims, surely black rims were not standard for this era of bike?
Re: Raleigh Appreciation SocietyAin't that a Ricardo?
Speaking of Raleigh Mixte's though, did anyone grab this pearler? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/320997803364 ... _cvip=true It was listed on ebay twice before going up on gumtree. I can't find a current listing so I'll assume it's was bought.
Re: Raleigh Appreciation Society
Oops, you could say I got a bit....mixte up. </dad's jokes> Sorry, I'll go back to the Repco thread now.
