One night in Bangkok

Two, actually.

Any tips for bike part shopping in Thailand and Singapore? From what I can tell via the internet, some things are slightly cheaper there than in Australia, but I'm not sure where to look for the best bargains.

I just got back from Thailand last week.

Like you, I thought I might pick up some cheap bike parts/kit while there. But my experience was that it was no cheaper than Australia, in fact it was more expensive, and certainly it was way more expensive than online stores such as Wiggle or c r c etc. So I came back empty handed.

And I didnt buy any fake watches either.......

Wasting your time for bike parts in Bangkok. Few shops and very little variety. Depending on how long you are there I would focus of getting suits & shirts tailor made if that is your thing. PM me if you need details and of excellent tailors.

Thanks guys.

I got hopeful when I saw the prices for servicing and repairs online but, as noted, the parts prices don't match up.

I also contacted Rohloff in the hope of getting a marked down speedhub in Asia, and man, their pricing is nailed down. You pay the same for that thing whether you're in Haiti or Switzerland.

Maybe better luck in Singapore, but I doubt it.

A lot of bicycle tyres are made in Thailand, I bet if you can find a tyre factory maybe you could get some deals. I doubt anything else would be cheap there since anything not made in that country would be an import and as such no better off than anywhere else in the world.

One night in Bangkok makes the hard guy humble.
Not much between despair and ecstasy.
I can feel the devil walking next to me.

Sorry, had to say it :)

No cheap bike parts to be had... save your money for some ping-pong in Patpong. :P :P

I'm going with my wife and in-laws. They'll know the best ping pong places. Right after we get into a fight with some American sailors and grab some heroin. :P
