Hey, I thought there was no rules?munga wrote:well then! no drug cheats and full team kit, gents!
The FD on the drug cheat is now fixed.
BUT, I'm P****d OFF, band on the Superbe Pro is broken, the seller obviously knew as it was rusty as all fark, I now have to manufacture a new band, as the chances of finding one are slim.
The RD won't work on the Verty, it won't pick up 1st gear, I can't space the cassette over any further as the chain will foul on the frame, so I've wasted a whole bucket load for no reason.
So the new plan for the Verty is 9 speed, looking at a set of Dura Ace 9spd D/T shifters, 9 speed Ultegra FD & RD , Ash wanted me to give up on the D/T plans & fit brifters to it.
strava is getting to me at present, I uploaded my rides from yesterday & today, it appears that I didn't go to work today as I did yesterday's ride this morning & todays commute this afternoon , if someone high up in my workplace saw this I would have a difficult time explaining how I did all this riding whilst I was supposed to be at work . Think I'm booting strava at the end of the year.
Happy news (farking finally), the panto'd shifters & bar tape arrived for the Benotto, shifters look sweet , couldn't be bothered posting a photo in the build up post in the retro page as it didn't appear to garner much interest (yep farked off with internet forum sites too, spending way too much time ready the same garbage over & over again ), I may just keep it pretty much to myself until I'm finished it, then I may post some finished pics here, but then you guys will see it when it's done (unless you lot sneak over here for peeky peeks prior) .
So if anyone is looking for Suntour D/T shifters, I have a few sets here, also have most of a Campy groupo (bought from vaeske), a few extra Campy brake lever sets (complete or minus hoods), 2 sets of bars, plus other bits & pieces , so if you're looking for parts (except the Superbe Pro stuff as I'm still undecided as to where it may go) give me a yell, come over if you want, don't have prices, just grab it (only if you're definitely going to use it, I'm not giving parts out to you if you're intent on re-selling them ), we'll work out a price later on.
Yep, Verty & I will be there Raturday, maybe in full kit.

Never been happy with the rear shifting on the Malvern Star, due to 6 speed indexed DT shifters and and 7 speed cassette.
Friction setting has never worked since i got the bike a year ago, never worked out why.
Solution ? .... either get a 7 speed index DT shifter or a 6 speed cassette
Cant do the former (caus no braze ons frame) so i went to a northside bike shop and ask if they hav 6 speed cassettes.
He said yes but the 7 speed are HALF THE PRICE and told me use the friction setting with 7 speed would be the best (and cheapest) option.
He tried to make the friction setting work and finally agreed with me that it did not work.
A few hours later at home a new 6 speed cassette is installed but the indexing quality is disappointing.
So i am pushing and pulling and suddenly the shifter gives a crack and feels funny - Hey Presto all of a sudden the friction setting works

I need a set of good quality D/T shifter non-indexed tension nuts, either Campy or Suntour ones will do, I have 2 sets here but 3 have rust on them, so I'm looking for a good quality finish one, I'll swap or pay if you have (this is no rush as it's for the Benny).
I have a few 5 or 6 speed wheels sitting around, could pick up a 7 cassette but want 8 or 9 on the Verty, it's 8 at present.
Thinking of fitting the Superbe Pro gear to the Superlight, maybe refit the Repco Vantage with a mix of Campy & Suntour gear (or maybe even the Suntour Edge stuff that's on the Verty now), remove the Shimano SIS that is currently fitted to it (SIS is so low budget, reliable but very uninspiring).
