Inhaled a bug!Riding home today I inhaled a bug. Felt it go right in well. Was going all out at the time.
Haven't stopped coughing for more than 5 minutes at a time for about 2 hours now. Should I expect it to finally come up in one big lungy glob? What happens to it when you inhale one? I knew an old lady who swallowed a fly....
Re: Inhaled a bug!drink some water?
I swallowed a heap of flies on the weekend, some came up, others went down... all is good.
Re: Inhaled a bug! It's very unlikely that it will lay eggs in the yummy, warm, moist pink tissue of your alveoli.
Sleep well tonight! My bike blog. Long on rumination, rambling and opinion. Why let facts ruin everything?

Re: Inhaled a bug!Only one??? I've lost count how many bugs I've inhaled/swallowed.
Whats worse is when they get stuck in your mouth first and you get a very weird taste from them.
They add a small dose of extra protien to your diet. ![]()
Re: Inhaled a bug!I can't believe flies don't get a mention as having protein... should have shut my mouth!
Re: Inhaled a bug!Oh I've swallowed plenty... never inhaled one into a lung before though.... not pleasant!
Re: Inhaled a bug! This is the season that I wear a fly net over my helmet and face. Spring = pollen and flies by the zillions.

Re: Inhaled a bug!
Now I'm just going to let that one slide right on by... I had a fly attack my tonsils during my dog training on the weekend. Looks bad when the instructor starts hoiking up goobies!!
Re: Inhaled a bug! It's so hard to keep creepy crawlies out of food production lines that there are standards for vermin content.

Luckily we're mates!
Re: Inhaled a bug!
Only if you swallow them. Inhaling food is not a good idea. Nothing in the lungs can absorb the protein, other than a pneumonia that could kill you. Pretty unlikely one bug would do that to a fit young person - have a peaceful nights sleep thomas Cheers WombatK - Jerry Garcia, Grateful Dead

Come on, man up a bit. Catch and spit. Some days you are a big, strutting rooster, some days you are a bit chicken and some days you are just a complete cocque. Roger Ramjet: 2009 Giant CRX3 Spockette: 2009 Trek FX 7.3 (WSD, property of Mrs Monsoon) Lady Penelope: 2011 Avanti Cadent 1.0 TdF

You man up. Catch and eat
Re: Inhaled a bug!No coughing today, but was still coughing right up to bed time last night. I'm hoping I coughed it up in my sleep.
Re: Inhaled a bug!Did you see a sodden black creepy on your pillow in the morning? If not, then no, you didn't. Unless you reswallowed, in which case you probably had no need for breakfast.

Re: Inhaled a bug!
Yeah I had a late breakfast. Just wasn't hungry for some reason.
Re: Inhaled a bug! From your original post it would appear that the bug was inhaled into the airways of the lungs.
While its gross to have something like this happen it won’t stay there, and eventually you will cough it up (probably in small pieces) as the air passages have small hair like protuberances that continually expel dust etc. that finds it’s way into this area. You could possibly speed up the process by taking a expectorant cough mixture for a couple of days as this will thin the mucus, and should make it easier to cough it out. Drinking extra water for a couple of days will also help to thin the mucus in the airways.
