Jim Bundy Neo-Retro

I picked up my frame and wheels from Peter Bundy this morning
He made it for me from Reynolds 531, Prugnat lugs.
Chromed fork with 1" threaded steerer, orange pearl paint by Star Enamellers.
She's getting;
Campagnolo Athena with Ultra Torque Cranks and Chorus shifters
Chorus hubs with Ambrosio Excellence rims.
(thanks to DJInterg8 for the idea to use Veloflex Master 23 tyres-they look sweet we'll she how they handle Sydney roads)

Peter's building the frames. He learnt frame building at his father's side and takes great pride in his dad's skill.
One time at the shop he was showing off the tube filleting that his dad had done recently just to show his dad still had it

Very neat, could almost be long lost cousins with my Olmo! Love the wheel build, I was looking for the Ambrosio rims too.

Let us know what you think of the tyres - being lightweight I can't see them lasting ages, but they're so nice and supple on the road and seem to have great grip. Roll real nice as well.

Thanks, took her out for 60km this morning and I was very pleased
Hopefully I'll get the chance for a longer ride this weekend cause a weekday ride isn't long enough.

I was very impressed with the Olmo!
The Veloflex are great but I was blown away by how light they were when the package arrived, and pretty thin compared to other tyres I've used.
I'm not expecting much mileage out of them because I'm a puncture magnet, in which case I'll swap to something more durable and tougher.
Any suggestions for a puncture resistant skinwall/gumwall in 23?
Loving the Ambrosio rims but how are the H+ Sons rims? How's the wide rim, noticeable?

I was still putting it together Sunday, managed a ride up and down the street Sunday arvo to make sure it was all ship shape.

I was looking for something more puncture resistant to start with, but these seem to be going well. I think the 320tpi thread and "anti-puncture layer" would do a pretty good job, but it's not a daily rider for me.

The H+Son rims are not too bad - built up fairly easily, rim joint is OK but maybe I'm being picky.. As far as the wider rim goes - my RS80s are 21mm wide and the Rubino Pro 23c tyres bulge a little, where the Veloflex on the 23mm rim are a nice and round profile. I run Velocity A23 rims on my commuter with Rubino Pro 25c and they bulge a little too. TB14/Veloflex combo looks good either way

I can't feel any difference in handling or comfort, but I haven't done any back to back tests with the same tyres on the same bike.

I say go with whatever looks best!
