Third Road Bike

Postby HoldYaLine » Mon Nov 05, 2012 8:26 pm

Hey guys,

Recently two friends bought the same bike and it was hilarious, they hate riding together in the club with the same colours, ahhhh so funny. But the scary part was, I was about to buy this bike aswell, so it could've been all three of us. it was the Giant TCR Advanced SL 1 (2012) for anyone wondering.

But since they just bought this bike, i don't know what to look at...

Because, they let me ride it the other day and it felt amazing so it would've been the perfect bike, the only thing stopping me is having the same bike as two other friends in the club.

The bike is full and quite a high grade of carbon, they havn't put good wheels on yet and it came in at a tad over 7.5 kg. So i will be looking at something similair to this weight. They also have Full dura ace componentry throughout so thats another thing i'd like. (doesn't have to be dura ace, quite a fan of SRAM Red and ultegra to save a bit of cash. (no di2 btw I dont' like it.) oh and less than about 6grand

So yeah, if any of you have bikes similair but not the same to the Sl 1 please, be my guest.

2013 model?

If you switch wheels etc it will look like a different bike I reckon. Just get it - you know you want to :)

Just get the same one...then all three of you can be just like the other 20 people at the cafe with the same bike! Giant - about as unexciting as a bike can get.

But also free of the poseur aspect that is sometimes associated with other bike brands

Yeah saw this fat old poseur guy riding a 10k colnago at the gong ride with campy boras on it. I was a little bit jealous. The giants are not a poseur bike and in my opinion are not boring either. They used to be but the new ones are really nice.

IMO the tcr advanced sl 1 is far from boring and looks unreal, but then I'm biased as I get mine in three weeks

The TCR Advanced SL 1 is IMO more akin to a Lotus Exige, a Caterham or the Millenium Falcon.

You got 6K? Buy it because you like it, flip the wheels, and chuck on some TWE deep dish monsters. No one will look at the frame, they'll be jealous of your wheels.

Buying a common bike brand so you don't look like a poseur puts you firmly in the poseur category in my opinion.
