Its my urban ride now.....not game to take it off road and test its rep.......Velo13 wrote:BIGFOOT - early 90s aluminium made on the Gold Coast IIRC. "Technicomps" was what they called their road frames. Quite a rep for cracking, so you might have the only known ridable example.

My Blue beast, fun to ride, unless you do a 4 hour solo race on it, then your wrists feel like they have been vibrated into dust.

Things I really like..
-1992 Mongoose Iboc Team, the blue one with the triangular section top tube and loopstays, do want!
-Yeti ARC/FRO
-Higher end steel GTs
-The higher spec Diamond Back Axis steel frames
-Zaskar, Pantera, RTS, LTS
-Euro and yank E-stay bikes, e.g. Funk, Alpinestars, Haro.\
I don't want any broken stuff but I am happy to paint and decal back to factory.
I have this frame at home but its bent and at the end of the day, while I've owned it for 17 years, I really don't think its 'trick' enough to warrant another build up being a mid-range tange tubed LX level bike.
I want to build something that snaps necks this time, 100% period spec.

I used to fairly regularly service an earlier one (maybe 95?) in raw ti with M950, pretty radical rig.

Can't be bothered chasing up the pic so you'll just have to believe the thing about me drooling. Used to lust over high end GTs back in me STX days...brettels wrote:More GT Love....

I've actually got an Alpinestars Al-Mega Dx sitting in pieces in the garage. Also happen to have got hold of an 1985 Apollo Himalaya, and Gordy's Peugeot Kings Canyon.floody wrote: -Euro and yank E-stay bikes, e.g. Funk, Alpinestars, Haro.\
One day I dream to have -
an Early Bontrager Race;
Ritchey with Bullhorn handlebars, maybe a camouflage painted Commando;
Team Fat Chance Yo Eddy with Suntour XC Pro;
Richard Cuningham Mantis XCR; and a
Early Rock Lobster singlespeed.
Not much of a dream..........

All that was left of the original 1-1/4" threaded forks were the stanchions so i got reducers and fitted some later Manitous i had lying around (if i come across some older Rock Shox forks i'll swap them out). The handlebars were made by 'NL' or something like that? I've seen that brand plenty of places before, but they are actually etched on one side with a paragraph spiel about the wonders of aluminium .
Didn't have wheels so Exage hubs with Araya/Velocity rims, Trek Big Kahuna front, WTB VelociRaptor rear.
