Recumbents and all feet forward machines

Hi all,
Does anyone know where I might be able beg, borrow or hire a recumbent trike in or near Perth?
A mate of mine asked me if I could find one for him to try. He wants to give cycling a go to improve his health and fitness, but he has a small problem with balance. After discussing the issue, he decided that a recumbent trike might be the obvious choice. The 'bent will probably suit his riding style. And yes, I've warned him that he will have to grow a beard!!!!
The only question is ease of access. He considered an upright three wheeler because they are easier to climb onto, but the relative stability of a moving recumbent is far more important in this case. He'll spend more time riding and cornering than he will climbing on or off.
I contacted a couple of the bike hire places, but they only seem to have bikes or quads. Where's the best place to try?

I doubt you'll find a shop selling them, but I'm pretty sure there are one or two enthusiasts over there. Baalzamon springs to mind. He, or someone else with a trike, might be happy to help you out... EDIT: Ah, there you go; a shop!

And just when I'm getting fairings sorted out for a trike downhill duel he goes and sells ... My trike is an 15 year old Greenspeed so maybe you want to try elsewhere, have you tried contacting Greenspeed for possible contacts in WA? They used to have a list of people prepared to show and tell. I don't know if Craig at JustBents Cycles is still operating http://www.justbents.com.au/product%20trike.htm, nor Martin at Logo Trikes http://www.logotrikes.com/trike.html. Or as Baalzamon said try meeting the riders at WAHPV.ORG on a weekend, just bring lots of coin for coffee stops.

Thanks Baalzamon, we'll check them out! Garlands had a couple on the floor too, but we might wait until after the Caravan & Camping show.

Just checked with Martin, he's packing up his shed and Logotrikes is no more. The website is still up but that'll be fixed soon. Just bought some bottom bracket shells off him so definitely he isn't going back into the recumbent building business.
