Well, the tamari performed above expectations this morning. No creaking or screeching to be heard :)

Sort if wish I'd given it a blast down Dornoch though...

Uploading todays video's to you tube, will post the links probably tomorrow morning.

Great ride, lots of mirth & merriment was had by all.

Thanks elantra for the 7700 FD, ordered the 7700 D/T shifters from the US, so once it's all here then the Verty gets converted to Shim DA, looking at getting a set of DA levers & removing the late model ones, but then I'm not sure anybody really notices the modern brakes unless I say something.

Everything is ordered or here for Benny, 3TTT Competizone TdF bend 42cm bars, the secret brake calipers & (hopefully) a good set of NOS Campy Modolo (I need non-aero which these are) levers are the last bits that haven't lobbed. Got chrissy coming up, picked up wifey's M/C this arvo, hols in Feb, so it may be Feb or March before Benny goes for paint.

The Superlite is getting Suntour (how unusual for moi) Superbe (mostly Pro) gruppo.

The bits off the Verty go onto the Repco Vantage & the Shim SIS indexed stuff will be surplus.

The reason why I'll be posting any updates & stuff here, there are some people around that wouldn't know a D/T shifter from a spoke nipple, some 'expert' has decided that I should forget the 90% gruppo I've already amassed for Benny & fit some crap to it, maybe late model brifter or maybe 8 speed with 7 speed shifters & forget a gear, this is why I only post here basically, too many farkin' 'experts' for moi. Maybe I should fit 3 speed Huret with a 5 speed Schwinn top tube 'T-bar" shifter & just not cable anything.

vaeske, I sent you a text message, those bars are Sakae Champion ones, 390-400mm wide, not pretty but should fit what you are chasing for your build.

pent sent me a PM about the Campy gear but I think he's chasing Nuovo Record stuff, what I have here is Triomphe gear. I think Dan would grab it but he may have like 20 gruppo's more than he needs at present.

There was a bit of a track headbutt incident, I'll highlight it for you vaeske when I find it. It is just after 4.05 on video # 16, there was no malice intent, we was just mucking about. Oh & Mr. Pottymouth was out again, but you have to expect that from me, I don't post them up on you tube for the general public to watch, just us lot really, so until someone complains to you tube & gets them all taken down, I guess it's ok. If that happens I'll just put some foam over the mic so that there's very little sound.

Cheers

Abso'bloody'lutely.

Hey you, I'm working nightshift (start tonight until Wed night), so I'll be going to bed around 1, gotta nick out & get some shopping, do you want me to nip over & drop those bars off to you? Send me a text message & let me know if you do, otherwise it'll be Thursday arvo or Friday before I'll have time at home.

Or I can bring them Raturday (well I won't but I'll ask Dan if he's driving & drop them over to his joint).

Let me know, we can work out some kind of price of swap later (still after a set of MTB forks which I think you may have spare).

anyone have a superfluous silver bidon cage - hopefully one of those elite ones with the 'thermoplastic rubber' grommets on the topside inner edge?

It isn't normal aluminium, more like very, very light weight Italian extremely low carbon 'steel'.

Told you I should have gone with the alternate graphics.................

Atleast it will be D/T shifting, I've seen some retro bikes with those modern brake/shifting thingies (what do they call it sh1terbs or w@ankers or something), what kind of person would do that sort of thing to a nice classic bike  , oh well I won't bring it if it don't fit in.

I should buy a roll & fit it to vaeske's bike  , I'm sure that would really get up someone's nose, but it matches his jersey & knicks.

I'll be sticking with the factory Benny tape, ordering a roll or 2 more whilst the guy still has stock. It's typical 80's bar tape, thin as dunny paper, so I may fit 2 way tape under it so it's a little (only be a little bit too) softer, we used to double tape the bars (that where that whole 'double tape' thing came from), so I may even buy some cheapish thin unpadded bar tape to go under the factory stuff.

Looking forward to 6.30 am tomorrow morning, sleep deprivation does strange things to ya, I'm normally like a zombie by the 4th (& last) shift when I'm working nights, the penalties aren't really worth the hassle but we get lots of stuff repaired & fixed in those few hours when there's no trains at all. I'll grab a few hours kip tomorrow morning when I get home then maybe go for a ride, Friday morning I might get a quickie in then head off for the first day of the first test.

Forecast for liquid sunshine on Sat, I'm still coming.

vaeske, I'll bring those bars for you, so I guess I'm up for 2 cups of coffee, 1 from Dan & 1 from vaeske, think I owe elantra a few cups so better bring my wallet.
