I just did a search on the 'app store'. I ordered an Iphone cradle for my bike and its in the post.
The apps I downloaded are:
Roadbike
iBike Coach
CycleComp
Anyone else use these free apps or one of 'em? Just by looking at them, CycleComp looks like its the way to go for me. Simple design and legible. RoadBike looks like the most impressive app feature wise... but you gotta sign up to get full value etc etc.
Any thoughts?
PS
I have not upgraded to IOS6 and dont intend to... I like my google maps too much

Depends what you want out of it of course, instantaneous speed or post ride analysis etc.
Personally I use Strava (the free version).
Re google maps, you do realize you can just install it separately from App Store post ios6 upgrade don't you ???

Correct, Apple's instructions herescotto wrote:Ditto . I think you have to access them through safari
In Mr Cook's apology letter he discusses some alternative apps, not all of them are available to Australian customers though and they're all navigation apps. I've been using Maps on iOS 6 in the greater Perth area and have yet to have a navigation issue.
The area that is letting it down is POI's. In Google Maps you can type a business name or other point of interest into the search bar instead of a street address and get a reliable result. The same is not true of Maps. Many POI's aren't in its database and the ones that are can be out of date. My own office is a case in point, Maps has a listing for it but it’s the address we left 5 months ago. I've updated the Yelp listing (which is apparently Apple's source for most of its POI data) but it has yet to flow through to Maps. Updating my business details on Google resulted in an instant fix. In the iOS app sphere there doesn't seem to be an alternative to compete with Google Maps.

I use Endomondo and Strava.
You can customise the display on Endomondo.
Note - there is a free and a paid version of Endomondo.
Strava is free unless you subscribe to the premium/pro which gives other features when reviewing your workouts.
Here is an Endomondo workout:
