Can I lane filter? (ie. cycle down the space between 2 lanes of traffic).
There is no rule against it. However there are some rules that still may apply:
- On a multi-lane road, you must drive within a single marked lane (no part of you or your bike should straddle a lane marking) (s146).
- You must leave sufficient distance to avoid a collision or obstructing the path of a vehicle (s144(a))
- You must not return to the lane/line of traffic where the overtaken vehicle is until there is sufficient distance to avoid a collision, or causing an obstruction to the path of the vehicle. (s144(b))
- When entering a bicycle storage area, you must enter it via a bicycle lane(s247A) so you can't filter into it.

May I suggest re-wording the text below the heading for this question?

"There is no rule against it." suggests that it's legal to do, which is a bit misleading as it is very rare that you can actually line filter without breaking the law.

It might be better to say something like: "There is no rule specifically prohibiting it, however to do it without breaking the law you must not do the following"?

Left hand turns don't require signaling, nor stopping.

That's my understanding. Hence the standard of having the rear brake on the left.

And here I was thinking it was a thing from riding moto's. Front brake should always be on the right. The left is the clutch. The other way round feels weird to me.

God knows why. I definitely feel I can modulate my front brake better using my right hand than my left. I am right handed though and have ridden moto's for many years.

Pretty sure this is Sheldons advice on lever assignment too for just the same reason.
