Hey guys,

Silly thread but anyway...

Which do you prefer? Black saddle and bar tape or white saddle and bar tape?

White comes in all sorts of shades - unless you can colour-match it, it just looks off. And then there's the 'dirty hands' factor.

I love white, until sweaty hands changes it to a different colour. (Yuk!)

So black for my bike.

My Defy was white and white, changed to black and black. Why? White was getting dirty way too quickly!!

It’s all about “the look”.............right?

White with your current wheelset.........just be prepared to clean the tape after each ride, and replace every couple of months.

But............definitely black if you decide to fit a set of deep dish CF wheels, unless of course they feature huge white logos

White. And I've always had white and never had trouble keeping it clean.

I would say go with the white as well. I have always had white tape and saddle with my bike, with the exception of one.

I never had any trouble in keeping them clean.

Not only does black look better, it's going to stay looking better once you have a flat and get chain lube and road grime all over that white tape.

Just carry a few disposable plastic gloves for that eventuality and they hardly take up any room in a jersey pocket.

White looks better for about 3/4 of a second. Then it looks crap.

The white looks mint.

As for getting the white bar tape dirty, I suggest a clean bike, clean drive train, clean hands and pristine gloves.

Plus it looks Pro lol.

Valid options are:

Match the saddle to the bars and the tires to black; or
Match the bars to the color of the frame at the top of the head tube and the saddle to the color of the frame at the top of the seat tube and the tires to the color where they come closest to the frame; or
Match the saddle and the bars to the frame decals; or
Black, black, black

Good choice, the white looks great. :)

Yeah it gets grubby, but baby wipes on the bar tape or a little bit of detergent gets it looking good again. 8)

That is one Rule I'm going to ignore forever, as road crud sitting around the valve stem is not real good when you pump the tyres up. :(

I voted black as I had no idea what you were asking. Now that I know my preference is white as it looks 100% classier than black. Only problem is that it does'nt stay white for very long.
