Can you work this one out?Where did that rider come from...? And how?
Riding bikes in traffic - what seems dangerous is usually safe; what seems safe is often more dangerous.
Re: Can you work this one out?He came off the yellow and blue bike the first bloke grabbed but dam fast change over.
Foo I don't suffer fools easily and so long as you have done your best, you should have no regrets.

Re: Can you work this one out?
That guy was still moving at 25kmh when he dismounted, a step or two and he was on the next bike. Clearly the crew weren't expecting him to hold quite that much speed as well!
Re: Can you work this one out?
This is where cyclocross in the off season comes in really handy.
Re: Can you work this one out? What impressed me as well was the fact that he stepped off the left hand side of the bike, and mounted the next bike on the left.
While it probably has something to do with being right handed, but I find it extremely awkward to mount the bike from the left. That makes me ask.........on what side do you normally mount your bike?
Re: Can you work this one out?Mate the proper way is to mount from the left, otherwise your horse might be spooked & you risk jabbing in the rump with your sword.
Isn't inertia a wonderful thing I was going to buy a fast, stylish bike, but I looked in the mirror & thought "you're not fooling anyone, you know"
Re: Can you work this one out?Always the left... Watch a cyclocross race and it is 99% the left hand side that every body uses. Left or right handed doesn't matter.
Even on motorbikes it is the same... Hence the side stand is always on the left.
Re: Can you work this one out?
Horses and motorbikes are always boarded from the LHS. Makes sense to use the same convention for pushbikes.
Re: Can you work this one out?Ive just watched that 10ish times in a row, and i am still amazed!!
Now i have never thought about it before but i naturally mount from the LHS. But the Missus may have something to say about that ![]()
Re: Can you work this one out?Yes, I dismount on the left. Right side dismounts are usually clipped-in stacks
My wife dismounts on the right - makes for fun on our tandem. Riding bikes in traffic - what seems dangerous is usually safe; what seems safe is often more dangerous.
Re: Can you work this one out?
On a tandem I guess the stoker would have to dismount first anyway unless you are able to throw a leg over the handle bars.
