What do you do with your Banana Peel? What is acceptable an acceptable disposal method of a banana peel on a ride?
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?Find a bin, take it home or bury it if you're in the bush. Never acceptable to toss it.
...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?Today I seen a rider throw into a drain. Where does that stand ?
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?Really probably makes little impact on the environment. Gets washed out into a creek, decomposes in the stream, feeds the fishes and frogs.
Not worth stressing over at all. Banana peel breaks down very quickly. Riding bikes in traffic - what seems dangerous is usually safe; what seems safe is often more dangerous.
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?I'll admit to being a bit of a litter nazi (I even pocket my cigarette butts if no bin is around), but I see no issue with tossing organic stuff, location depending. As il padrone says, little environmental impact to worry about, but dropping it in the middle of the bike path for example would certainly bother me.
Dent.
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?Bin it or take it home with a wee plastic bag tucked in your top.
Happy Days
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?Chuck it into the shrubbery. I ride highways, so there is always plenty of bush. I'm not talking urban here.
BTW, I don't see "pocketing a cigarette butt if there is no bin around" as extraordinary. I see it as minimum standard. You have officially become your parents.
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?If there's a bin, sure I'll use it. If not, I'll throw it somewhere that wouldn't be deemed 'messy' by locals or other road users.
It's biodegradable, we aren't talking plastic gel wrappers here!
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?I never put them on the road or Mario's kart will spin out.
![]() Seriously though... they're biodegradable, we aren't talking plastic gel wrappers here. If there's a bin, sure I'll use it. If not, I'll throw it somewhere that wouldn't be deemed 'messy' by locals or other road users.
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?toss it in discrete location (i.e. in bushes on country roadside, not city roads), bin it, or stuff it in back pocket.
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?
Yet so few smokers bother, even if a suitable receptacle is around. Before my work moved we had a "smokers corner" complete with ashtray, yet the ground nearby was always littered with butts. Pissed me off no end. Dent.
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?
I am with Mulger Bill. It is actually is not suitable "food" for native animals and they actually take quite a while to break down. Citrus fruit is even worse. Andrew
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?
but neither are fallen branches or dirt - i would have assumed animals have some means of disciminating between suitable and unsuitable foods. i could be wrong.
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?
Have you been to your local park lately and seen what happens with the ducks (we have signs up at some parks explaining why you shouldn't feed them). There are signs at Lake Monger for example explaining why you shouldn't do what this bloke is doing with his daughter (I assume it his daughter) ![]() or visited a campsite and seen what happens? This guy was hanging around at Martins Tank Campsite for a reason ... ![]() Andrew
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?I save them for abusive joggers.
Or toss them at the base of a tree. Throwing them in a a bin is such a waste.
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?
what do you do with the plastic bag you put your banana peel in? GO!! Run!!! GAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?does this happen to anyone else when they eat bananas?
![]() If you can't explain it simply, then you don't understand it well enough.
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?
I like the wee plastic bag idea.
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?
I don't usually use plastic bags for that Riding bikes in traffic - what seems dangerous is usually safe; what seems safe is often more dangerous.
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?Save it, dry it out and smoke it?
Re: What do you do with your Banana Peel?
Well I hate the banana in my top on a hot day, its not very nice. Also I am not one to want to stop in the middle of my ride to find a bin. So fan of the bag idea. Also I was berated one time for not taking out the peel of my top and putting in the wash.
