I have a griend that has an extra ticket for the 160km Rainbow Ride this weekend, if anyone is interested, let me know and i think he will sell it cheap (around $50ish) if it hasn't gone. You would have to arrange to pick it up on the day due to being so close.

Wow, that was a tough day out!

I did the rainbow ride 100km. Very bumpy roads, hillier than expected and the wind was howling.

friendly event, good food and lots of giveaways etc.

That was a huge amount of fun, with the exception of the Roubaix section.
And the last 20 km into the howling gale also.
I lost a few minutes on the Roubaix section looking for my mobile phone which got jettisoned onto the road at 40 km/hr.
I found most of it with the help of another kind cyclist.
After putting it back together i discovered it still works and i took a few photos.

Hey Elantra, did you do the 100 or the 160. I noticed on strava that the 100 was actually 109kms! That last 20-30kms into the Southeasterly was  a slog, made even more harsh by the bonus 9km!

As you say i did the 109 km.
It did not feel to be as far as that but the wind from Mullum to Byron was cruel.
At one stage i crested a rise and then had to change gears down for the descent as i came out of the wind shadow !
This event is a good one but not suitable for the inexperienced cyclist.
I was tempted to enrol for the 160 because i like the Burringbar climb/descent but then i would have needed about a 2 hour rest in Pottsville to complete the rest of it :D
