Just like indicating when exiting a roundabout. Here in Victoria it's not policed, hence ignored. Indeed I would go so far as to say that when you do indicate, it often confuses other drivers around you.

I grew up in Melbourne, and now living in Brissy I really appreciate the indicate on exit rule. it just makes sense. You always exit the roundabout on your left. So why the hell not indicate that intention?

Not that it's really exactly on topic but don't for a moment misinterpret If practicable as optional. The ruling is that you must indicate and it's a three point penalty if you don't (without valid reason). Road regulations are littered with the words If practicable and some are policed eagerly. It's like a hook turn in Melbourne CBD that has you turn right from the left (If practicable) and you'll be hammered if you don't. That's policed.

In many little single-lane roundabouts in local streets, that have tight entry and exit, like this one that I have to drive through frequently, it is not practicable to signal and maintain safe control of your vehicle.

And there are plenty in the inner suburbs that are even tighter than this.
