I'm hoping for no further unexpected purchases from now on after getting the bike back tonight after its visit to hospital. It looks beautiful again.

The rear hub doesn't seem to freewheel as freely as the old one. It's a Bontrager RaceXLight hub by DT Swiss. It'll actually try to spin the pedals around slightly.

Also where did you buy the Garmin kit for the 500??

Directly from Garmin au. (shop.garmin.com)

It's the quarter turn kit for the 310xt (part 010-11215-02, $25.00) plus the wrist strap (part 010-11215-01, $27.50).

Only thing to note is the Garmin ends up running along your arm not across like you would expect. Obviously makes no difference to the operation, it's just a bit more awkward to read while running.
