There was an accident on victoria ave, nedlands, heading west bound; female rider down, numerous people with punctures....
The female rider wasn't moving when i passed, although a number of riders had stopped to render assistance. There were also numerous riders with punctures. I also spoke to another rider who had witnessed multiple puntures along the route ... not sure if it was before or after this incident.
Does anyone have any info on what transpired?

Where exactly was it Prestige? I wonder if it might have been students who have finished exams this week mucking up?
A lot of children use that hard shoulder to ride to Christchurch and MLC so I would rather doubt (and hope) that it wasn't a hostile local.

Got any more info Bob on what happened, and is there anything others need to be aware of with the roadworks? Its quite a popular route for many group rides...uglybob wrote:roadworks were the cause
area is just before you hit the right/left incline before the roundabout at Queenslea Dve http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=Vincen ... +6009&z=18

not sure - i rode through on wed morn, and detours were being put in place, however it appears they weren't there on thurs morn, so people came unstuck - a significant gap in the road (being resurfaced?).
ambos & police were involved, so you'd imagine the council would be over it like a rash going forward after that incident

Hi all, I go down that way every day. Roadworks still on. They are resurfacing and it seems like when done here they will continue on with the next batch. I would avoid the area at least for another week or two.
The edge where they have cut the Tarmac is very sharp and violent hence the tyre blow outs and accident.
Best wishes, Hooman

Went through here this morning - there has been a 45 degree lip added to each end of the roadworks area to make it a bit nicer for bikes.
A bit of mechanical sympathy should avoid any incidents.
