Re: Piarello ProjectVery nice Montello Ted. I've seen photos of them being used in the Pro peleton in the 80's. Good mix of Campy components too with 'top of the heap' Simplex gear levers. Your decals look to be in good nic as well.
Re: Piarello Project
Thanks for posting Ted, Ive bought some decals, your bike gives me a good idea where the factory placed them on the frame.
Re: Piarello ProjectPINNY IS ON THE ROAD
I ordered a C Record straight sided FD & it was larger & wider, than the Super record So Ive reused the SR/FD shimmed it into the "braze on" exactly the angle I want it to sit, then I reduced (made another) tube for the base of the FD between the two rails. This narrowed the whole affair about 3mm, enough to clear the flat sided crank, to a ride able standard, for my weight at least. Had my first ride & its similar feel to any good bike, just some tweaking & newly restored 3TTT bars will follow the first bar tape change. I have recently acquired the correct brake levers to match the Deltas, & a vintage Brooks Flyer so they will go on at the same time. THANK YOU to all the forum for your help, comments & ideas. I have learnt so much here. Cheers Brent
Re: Piarello ProjectPinny is earning her keep, as a magnetic trainer. The weather in SE Qld is atrocious, some areas looking at secondary flooding.

Re: Piarello ProjectI cant stop admiring this beaut.
Might I say, your garage/workshop is the biggest I've seen... taking the definition of a 'Public' dunny to a new level!
Re: Piarello ProjectOoops should have had the curtain closed.
Its a 3 bay with a 4th section on the side & car lift. Yes its admired often, but a borrowed camper & daughters 17ft boat live there at the moment. Cramping blke space
Re: Piarello ProjectThat's one very nice bike. I like the mix of new ( crankset, Deltas etc) with the old classic Campag, like those hubs.
That stem looks a tad small, or is it the angle of the pic? Well done Ted
Re: Piarello Project
Stem is a 50mm Sunshine, possibly spoils the look a bit, but it suits my small frame as well, I have a set of 3ttt old bars to follow with a 70mm stem & Campag Delta levers. Just at the moment I like the drilled levers which matched the drilled crankset, but I have moved the crankset sideways ,its a 53/44 too strong on the hills for these old legs! Once the Noosa E'roica is over I'll refit it & avoid the big hills. ![]()
