After pushing the doctor to the point where I had him yelling at me I got him to refer me for an MRI on my hip (he was happy with a dodgy ultrasound I was not). This discovered I have a Labral tear in my hip. I now have an appointment to see an orthpedic specialist. The saga continues. Lets just say I probably wont be back for a little while still.

Sorry to hear that too. That broken car window photo is kind of a cool hardman trophy but it is probably wearing out by now.

Ouch! After a few weeks holiday with a very painful and debilitating torn adductor I could imagine that this is really uncomfortable.

Panadol osteo and voltaren 25 was pretty helpful for me. :D

What's the prognosis for recovery? Or do you have to hang out with Grandma's for a while?

Prognosis isnt too bad its an arthroscopy and possible he will reattach the labrum to the bone depending on how it looks. He said I will be fine with day to day activities within 2 weeks and probably back to pretty much fully functional in a month or so.

@TLL: I have a feeling it will be a while till I am back to anywhere near what I was able to do before I have done less than 10x30min sessions since the accident. I am lacking any motivation to do any training at the moment knowing I will need more time off in a week.

Dr Andrew Strokon, he is a local guy did my Dad's knee and from what I have seen of him he seems to know his stuff.

My advice is to do it all gradually Vander and this way, you should come back strong.

If you don't, I will have to just track you down and give you a flogging with a pump.

Apologies, i missed out on you last updates. He did my knee, he did a very good job. You are in good hands there. When he did my arthroscopy I was back playing football within 3 weeks, running within 2. Take it easy, give it time for the swelling to come down and you'll be as good if not better than pre accident.

Grechy had an accident while skiing he is back on the bike but not yet back to racing.

Surgery was done last Thurs back to hobbling around. See him on Fri to find out what actually went down but he said he had to do more then he expected. I was given crutches post surgery which I used for a day or 2 but am not bothering with anymore.

Will update again after Fri. I am sure there is a light at the end of this tunnel......somewhere.

Crap. But you are still alive, it could have been a lot worse.
I ride, therefore I am. But don't ride into harm's way.

For those still following. I am back on the bike. While I am not back to 100% the doctor said it wont do any harm getting back on the bike. I have been back for 1.5 weeks and really I am feeling better than I have in over 6months, both mentally and physically. I am taking it relatively easy for the first few weeks getting more serious after I have been back for 4 weeks. I plan to get back to racing after about 3 months (maybe), and plan to be back to around what I was in about 4 months and going to aim at some races in around Sept I think. These are preliminary plans and I am going to see how it goes and adjust on the fly.

Great stuff!

So the knee is holding up after surgery and recovery?

It was the hip :) but before starting riding I didnt think it was going that well and now I have started riding it actually feels better. Not 100% sure yet seeing how it goes day by day.
