My commute is 215km per week. And every single one of 'em is a racing km.

Commute up to 200km per week. Not racing yet but working towards the 2013 Road Series here in Perth. Every ride is a training ride. May do some crits over summer.

I probably only average 100km a week, counting both commuting and racing. I've been racing for three years but have done only about 30-something races due to kids and other sports.
I'm an old fart (coming up to 50) who was in club B Grade for road/TT/crit, but this year I've been trying to learn CX, MTB and track and recover from a knee issue and that's been interesting but slow.
From my minimal experience, intensity rather than endurance is the key for crits. However, you do risk injury IMHO.
We're now moving to a very bike-friendly city and leaving the kids behind; should be great for racing but the standard is scarily high.
