I've recently got an old (maybe 15 years) black Rolls. The leather is not at all cracked but has a few marks on it. It's grubby, more than anything. It has a plastic underside and (what appears to be) leather on top. It basically needs a good clean up and protection.
There are a couple of threads on BNA and elsewhere on recovering a Rolls, but not much around on cleaning and restoring. My thinking is to give it a good clean with a soft soap (such Velvet) letting it dry and then putting Proofhide on it?
How's that for a plan?

your plan is sound. clean the leather, then moisturise it. from there you just buff away...

Thanks Dan. I washed with Velvet soap and did the proofhide thing. Came up a treat.
