Re: Longest WA road climb? There's a long climb out near Brigadoon isn't there? Can't remember the road name...
Re: Longest WA road climb?
campersic road its lots of fun especially in a howling ne wind. Sent from my MB526 using Tapatalk 2
Re: Longest WA road climb?Yeah I have done Campersic, Haddrill a number of times. Campersic is only about 4.5km from memory. Haddrill only aound 2km but plenty steep.
Does anyone know of a longish climb in the south west around the Stirling ranges perhaps? cheers Sambo
Re: Longest WA road climb?
There's a few roads around the ranges, you can go up bluff knoll to the carpark (about 450-500m) but I'm pretty sure the trail which goes to the top (around 1000m) isn't open to bike and I don't think you'd get up it anyway. Some good rolling terrain but not really big hills. 2011 Bianchi Via Nirone Veloce

Re: Longest WA road climb?I just mapped the rid on mapmyride, and if you can get to the top it's 11km with a vertical gain of 834m which works out at around 7.5%, though 500m of that is past the car park. Mapmyride says it's a HC climb

Re: Longest WA road climb? That would be a good climb if you could go past the carpark. I will look into it
BTW did you end up doing the railway ride along the track in Brigadoon(Avon River Valley) on your cyclocross? I would be interested in taking my Alan cyclocross there and riding through to Toodyay if possible. cheers Sambo
Re: Longest WA road climb?Nope didn't get up there last weekend, hoping for next weekend if the weather holds.
Edit: Might be able to sneak the cross bike up Bluff Knoll, have a feeling you might get a stern talking to from park rangers though. 2011 Bianchi Via Nirone Veloce

Re: Longest WA road climb?stolen from another thread on perth hills, but this ride looks like a bit of hard work!
http://www.strava.com/runs/594605 68.6kms / 2,138m gain (repeats) Although it wouldn't be one single climb, a morning spent doing those repeats would be some good training I suspect
Re: Longest WA road climb? It will be interesting how the surface is after the carpark if its a path (sealed) or just a track.
I dont see why a bike would be anymore environmentally damaging that hikers, however I think you maybe right, I don't think they would want groups of cyclists climbing the Knoll. Though it could be good for tourism down there if it was possible to climb to the top or near the top. cheers Sambo
Re: Longest WA road climb?Just googles some pics of the path. Its looks like you could ride it with a roadie. Can't tell if it has any steps there though.
cheers Sambo
Re: Longest WA road climb? The pics on this website seem to show it probably isn't ridable on a roadie.

Re: Longest WA road climb?
Maybe it changes towards the top to just a track. The other pics seem to show a sealed bike type path. cheers Sambo
Re: Longest WA road climb? There is absolutely no way you could ride up Bluff knoll after the car park it aint going to happen. I've ridden up to the car park in a race many years ago it was tough I saw good riders walk.

Re: Longest WA road climb? Is that because of access or do you think the grade would be to severe?
What grade is the Bluff Knoll road to the carpark?
Re: Longest WA road climb?Road to the carpark on strava is 2.9ks at 21.9% ave. Once you get off the road it is steep and has big steps for hikers its also really rocky. I'm going to hike it on Friday can post some pics if you like.

Re: Longest WA road climb? That would be great if you could.
I am thinking of going down there for a weekend and do some riding will probably take both the roadie and the CX cheers Sambo
