Re: munga's new projectyeah the frame's fine thanks, dv.
it'll hang up in the shed for a while i think. fork is a bit steeper than i'd hoped, but that's ok - it's a lovely frameset. for the weight, and because i don't know much about columbus tubes, i think it's reynolds 653 or 531p Last edited by munga on Sat Nov 17, 2012 7:56 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: munga's new projectdoes anyone recognise this casting mark on the lug?
(not my frame btw) ![]() internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga
Re: munga's new projectI'll take a stab at Japanese manufacture SR, Sakae/Ringyo? I know they made aluminum frames and forks, so I guess a lug casting business is not out of the question.

Re: munga's new projectyeah, that was my first thought too, but i've got those lugs on my raleigh 653 race, and now also on this olympic frame..
pommys using jap lugs? internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga
Re: munga's new projectI don't see why not. Plenty of Aussie built frames using TANGE tubing and lugs. I would imagine that Japanese sourced lugs would have been a lot cheaper than the Euro stuff at the time.

Re: munga's new projectso i've bought a dawes galaxy. reynolds 531 off-the-rack touring bike from England.
been looking for one for ages, but they're either not my size, or not affordable. bought another raleigh. a team ti, again with reynolds 531. not an actual team bike coz they were all 753. just my size, and it's one of those icons you just can't pass up! seriously looking to cull a few frames, so hit me up if there's something you want. looking to unload the following frames: a shogun samurai the lemond the blue superlite a raceline peleton the vertex roady the kenevans track frame will post ads up next week (just in time for christmas), once i get them all out for photos, with complete descriptions and prices etc. internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga
Re: munga's new projectI think you would regret selling the Vertex. When I think off you Munga I associate it with Repco's.

Re: munga's new project^ yes. Repco Munga, Runga
Re: munga's new projecthmm, why you make sense!
i think you may be right. i just looked at erle's vicenza again on another forum, and said to myself "if that was smaller i'd buy it". kinda says something, yeah? internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga
Re: munga's new projectSo where are you now Munga? Is the frame count slowly contracting towards a single figure?
I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.
Re: munga's new projecthmm.
3 repco's, 2 raleighs 1 lemond.. not really. internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga
Re: munga's new projectDefinitely looks like an SR stamp. My Dawes has French Bocama lugs so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for them to use japanese lugs.

Re: munga's new projecti looked at a few SR logo's and can't find a match, or a reference to their lugs.

Re: munga's new projectHi all new to this forum so please bear with me.
I have an 80's shogun samurai in original pink white and blue. I saved for a year as a teenager to buy this bike. I think in the 80's I paid almost $1000 new for it....I love this bike and it always gets questions/ turns heads when I ride it. Condition is very good with all original 105 bio pace components. My question is....is it collectable? Is it worth much? Ill attach a pic if I can work out how!!! Nick
Re: munga's new projectMate, check eBay for completed listings. My guess is $50 to $300 for a mint condition bike.
I picked up my samurai for under $100 with same components internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga
Re: munga's new projectis that blue one a `repco Superlight` I have an 80`s repco frame that I reversed the drop out`s for track. everyone was interested!!!! . Very tight geometry and a very rigid sprinter. I had to reverse the drop outs as the `SOOKS` did`nt like getting towel`d up by a streeter.
Re: munga's new projectyes, the blue one is a repco superlite. for sale, actually. $100 ono
the golden yellow raceline is for sale too. same deal. internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga

Re: munga's new projectIf you keep going like that before too long you'll only have one bike for every day of the week

Re: munga's new projectyeah, it doesn't make sense to have this many bikes.
