eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?volutamus scandemus
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Don't know what you guys are so skeptical about - Pinarello are notorious for making low end junk with suicide levers & stem mounted shifters I was going to buy a fast, stylish bike, but I looked in the mirror & thought "you're not fooling anyone, you know"
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Anyone after arabesque?
Edit: I think I'm confusing this with the' spotted a special' thread, although to be perfectly honest, I can't be sure most of the time. I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Thank you Dan, had'nt noticed these, bought today. Cheers.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
Notice how the ad is worded sneakily so that if you come back later and say that the BB does affect riding performance, the advertiser can point out that he had correctly claimed that no riding performance could be effected with this setup. That bike has the longest chainstays of any Pinarello I've seen. The ad would be slightly more correct if the word "Pinarello" in the title was shifted to occur just after the work "Orbea". I'm just imagining the Australian team racing in the Olympics with a rear rack, they did do some weird stuff in the 80s When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments- Elizabeth West.

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
Picked it up on Saturday. Different bike so all is well. A full service history from Yellow Jersey and runs oh so perfectly. The only issue is that it uses a weird 28.4mm seat post. I'll need a shim to fit the new 3t post The only good Cyclist is a Bicyclist

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?oh dear... just lost a bid for a kuhawara quadbutted bike...
went for 241.20 need to cry now. Completed listing: 181027325441
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Yeah, woulda been a few watching that, including me. But you never know how far the successful (never use the term 'winner' and 'fleaBay' in same sentence) bidder would have gone. The only way to think of it. Always another on the merry-go-round... Drop out when your limit's reached, I say. Walk away.... no tears now...
Ever noticed how quiet steel bikes are?
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Indeed. There's always something else out there. Likely better and cheaper too.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Nice,....... one of the few asian mass produced bikes from that era that have nice angles and half decent tubes IMHO. infinitely better than the ubiquitous repco superlite(Giants).
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?A forum member scored a cracking Apollo III for peanuts at a second hand store last week so will be an interesting comparison. Having owned one (still have it hanging in the shed, well worn and well loved) I've got a soft spot for them.
The Hillman I posted earlier is finishing tonight and I'm sitting with my popcorn preparing for the automated deathroll. A flurry earlier today saw it reach $414 but all is quiet now awaiting the final moments. I'm predicting $650 for the win, I'm glad it's too big
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?$414! $236 dollars off!
The auction finished too late!! I find that Sunday afternoon finishes are the best buys!

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
No evident provenance on that one. It's been a 'find' for someone., Dunno, just feel better when someone's had it for a significant period; my hang-up, I admit. And I always bid in multiples of 11. People are habituated in the decimal system. On occasions I've guessed at having pipped people by a few dollars for that reason. Could be all in my head, of course. Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Yep, 222.22, 333.33, 444.44 - gets it every time. Unless of course its worth 555.55.
Works with euros too I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.
