This morning I made it to within 5km of the office in the Melbourne CBD when it starting pouring down. Caught just about every red light along Brunswick St in Fitzroy North, getting thoroughly soaked in the extra time it took to get in while waiting at the intersections. Hopefully the kit dries out by this afternoon.

Headwind. Am assuming you live on the north side of brisbane. Must be 80% of the year those of us on the Southside ride home in that same headwind.Comedian wrote:Man it was hot today... And the headwind.

Looks like us south siders will have a tailwind for the commute home for the rest of this week...time to go out and get some more QOM action happening on the commute home...or at least increase my lead on the ones that I haveschurms wrote:Headwind. hot, yes. but interestingly if you commute out of prime commute times, the ride home is leisurely and below critical headwind speed.Comedian wrote:Man it was hot today... And the headwind.

It settled in after the first 500m - 1km and after that it was good as gold, still haven't given it a hard flogging, will start subjecting it to some harder braking on the way home.

Yes - I see your name against some of the segments I ride... nice work!marinmomma wrote:Looks like us south siders will have a tailwind for the commute home for the rest of this week...time to go out and get some more QOM action happening on the commute home...or at least increase my lead on the ones that I haveschurms wrote:Headwind. The hot ride yesterday arvo was tempered nicely by the splash into the pool with the kids when I got home... and by a few PRs and a top 10 on some segments.

Not long after leaving home I came across a lot of shredded bark from tasmanian blue gums, ghost gums etc. Must have been a few early squalls to start the day off. Though I didn't notice any fences down.
Looking out the window now I can see that the smart people are indeed those that left the bike home today. Roland passed me but there weren't too many others out there.
Certainly gonna be the train for me tonight.

While I'm with you in spirit there my early marks are to pick up kids. It's a balance between getting more done at work and getting there in time so often I have to go faster than I'd like.landscapecadmonkey wrote:hot, yes. but interestingly if you commute out of prime commute times, the ride home is leisurely and below critical headwind speed.Comedian wrote:Man it was hot today... Those in BNE should check the radar. People leaving later could get rained on.

I'll swap, you catch the bus and I'll ride in the rain, and clean your bike.Comedian wrote:Those in BNE should check the radar. People leaving later could get rained on.

Parkinson I see - I saw a pic of your ride and I HAVE seen the black Surly with racks on Algester Rd when I occasionally catch the bus, I too have a black Surly Crosscheck, I ride it to the city most days.

Actually found myself feeling a little skittish on some leaf littered corners - for some reason my confidence left me in the middle section of my ride.
It came back though... all good again.

Problem is the drool has been running down my chin and dripping on the keyboard.
It's stopped working and I can't find the energy to go and find a new one.

I got out of the car to get my bike and dropped the garmin. Skipped across the road and a car ran over it. Very short end to a rather useful life

Windy. Stuff all over the path. Not much company. Somehow I never had to bring out the pancho though I did get some spray from the river in places.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Unbelievably hot in Melbourne for the ride home yesterday..the thermometer showed 41C when I got home. Rode at about 60% effort over 30km, took a bit longer, but there was no way to push any harder.DavidS wrote:Today? Bloody hot.
Hot and humid on the way in this morning as well, few drops of rain, but not enough to cool things down.
Happy Friday!

This morning's ride in was steamy too, I think I'll have to start leaving earlier to get more of the 'night air'.
