Nice effort by a couple of Police Officers

AN ACT of kindness softened the blow for a Maddington pensioner last week after his only transport was stolen during a burglary.

Biking enthusiast Don De Bretton-Gordon (77) relies on his collection, two racing bikes, a road bike and a mountain bike, to visit his ill wife. But last Monday night all four were stolen from his Burslem Drive home.

Gosnells Police officer-in-charge Ash Goy said his heart went out to Mr De Bretton-Gordon when he read the report of the theft.

Knowing how distraught he was over the loss, Senior Sergeant Goy immediately contacted his Midland Police colleague Snr Sgt Wayne Hawes, who he knew had some surplus decommissioned police patrol bikes.

The two officers wasted no time arranging to donate one, and Mr De Bretton-Gordon received the gift last Wednesday.

Nice story to read in the morning.

though...
The stolen bikes were two racing bikes, a 2010 red-and-white Pinarello FP3 and a 2011 red, white and black Malvern Star Oppy C7; a Trek 4000 mountain bike and a Vetta single-speed road bike.
is a serious downer. That's a pretty stable of bikes to lose.

Hope he gets them back or is at least insured.

I actually know the cop on the left in that pic....he is a keen road cyclist himself.

Great stuff. 100,996/10 for style Mr WA Plods :D

I hope Mr De Bretton-Gordon calls his new steed "The Bluesmobile".
