Number of fixed / free teeth

Postby neild » Thu Nov 29, 2012 1:51 pm

Hi, I'm currently running at 46 / 16 freewheel combination on a flip-flop hub and I'm thinking of giving fixed a go.

My question is what would people recommend for size of the fixed cog? I know Sheldon recommends 1 to 2 teeth bigger for the freewheel, ie a fixed cog of 14 or 15, but as I'm just starting out on the fixed path should I go higher / lower / the same?

Thanks.

Same or one lower (17) should do the trick.

agreed.

You want to spin, not struggle.
